وقد رفأت المملك ترفئة وترفيئا، إذا قلت له ذلك
And you caused the slave to be reconciled, a reconciliation and a causing of reconciliation, if you said that to him.
وإن شئت كان معناه بالسكون والطمأنينة
And if you wish, its meaning is with calmness and tranquility.
فيكون أصله غير الهمز، من قولهم: رفوت الرجل إذا سكنته
So its origin would be without the hamza, from their saying: I calmed the man if I made him tranquil.
وأرفأت السفينة: قربتها من الشط
And I brought the ship near: I brought it close to the shore.
وذلك الموضع مرفأ
And that place is a harbor.
وأرفأت إليه: لجأت
And I resorted to him: I sought refuge in him.
ورافأته في البيع: حابيته
And I was lenient with him in the sale: I was accommodating to him.
وترافؤوا، أي توافقوا، وتظاهروا
And they agreed, meaning they came to an agreement, and they supported each other.
