And 'al-dīn' (with kasra): the recompense, and I recompensed him (with kasra) with a recompense, and it is also said with damma, and Islam, and I followed it (with kasra), and the custom, and worship, and persistent rain, or gentle rain, and obedience, like 'al-dīnah' (with hā'), and humiliation, and disease, and accounting, and subjugation, and dominance, and superiority, and authority, and kingship, and judgment, and conduct, and management, and monotheism, and the name for all that by which God Almighty is worshipped, and the creed, and piety, and disobedience, and coercion, and from the rains: that which consistently visits a place, so it becomes a habit for it, and the state, and the judgment.
ودنته أدينه: خدمته، وأحسنت إليه، وملكته، ومنه: المدينة للمصر، وأقرضته واقترضت منه.
