And the 'kāhil', like 'ṣāḥib': is the withers, or the front of the upper back next to the neck, which is the highest third, and it has six vertebrae, or what is between the shoulders, or the connection of the neck to the spine, and Ibn Asad ibn Khuzaymah, and an ancestor of a tribe from Asad, who killed Abu Imri' al-Qays.
ويقال للشديد الغضب وللفحل الهائج: إنه لذو كاهل.
And it is said of the intensely angry and the aroused stallion: 'He is possessed of a kāhil'.
والشديد الكاهل: المنيع الجانب.
And the strong of kāhil: is the one who is unassailable on his side.
وأبو كاهل: قيس بن عائذ البجلي الصحابي.
And Abu Kāhil: is Qays ibn 'A'idh al-Bajali the Companion.
والكهلول، بالضم: الضحاك والكريم.

وكغراب: كاهن جاهلي، وكجرول وصبور: العنكبوت، وطار له طائر كهل، أي: له جد وحظ في الدنيا.
And like 'ghurāb': a pre-Islamic soothsayer, and like 'jarwal' and 'ṣabūr': the spider, and 'a bird flew for him, kahl', meaning: he has success and fortune in the world.
