And 'al-musallil', like 'muhaddith': the noble, honorable, pure-blooded master, like 'al-musalsal', with fatha, and abundant rain, and the cobbler, which is 'al-iskāf' among the common people.
وَالصَّالُ: المَاءُ يَقَعُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ فَتَنْشَقُّ.
And 'al-sal': water that falls on the earth and causes it to crack.
وَصَلَّلْنَا الحَبَّ المُخْتَلِطَ بِالتُّرَابِ: صَبَبْنَا فِيهِ مَاءً، فَعَزَلْنَا كُلًّا عَلَى حِيَالِهِ.
And we separated the grain mixed with earth: we poured water into it, and separated each part individually.
يُقَالُ: هَذِهِ صَلَالَتُهُ، بِالضَّمِّ.
It is said: this is its remainder, with damma.
وَصَلَتْهُمُ الصَّالَةُ: أَصَابَتْهُمُ الدَّاهِيَةُ.
And 'al-salah' struck them: the calamity befell them.
وَتَصَلْصَلَ الغَدِيرُ: جَفَّتْ حَمْأَتُهُ.
And the pond dried up: its muddy bottom dried.
وَالحُلِيُّ: صَوْتٌ.
