Al-kashf, like al-ḍarb, and al-kāshifah: is the showing, and the lifting of something from what conceals and covers it, like al-takshīf.
وكصبور: الناقة يضربها الفحل وهي حامل، وربما ضربها وقد عظم بطنها، فإن حمل عليها الفحل سنتين ولاء، فذلك الكشاف، (بالكسر)، وقد كشفت الناقة تكشف كشافا، أو هو أن تلقح حين تنتج، أو أن يحمل عليها في كل سنة، وذلك أردأ النتاج.
And like ṣabūr: the she-camel that the male mounts while she is pregnant, and sometimes he mounts her when her belly has grown large. If the male mounts her for two consecutive years, that is al-kashshāf (with kasr), and the she-camel has become kashafat, takshifu kashāfan, or it is that she conceives when she gives birth, or that she is mounted every year, and that is the worst of offspring.
والأكشف: من به كشف، محركة، أي: انقلاب من قصاص الناصية، كأنها دائرة، وهي شعيرات تنبت صعدا، وذلك الموضع: كشفة، محركة، و من الخيل: الذي في عسيب ذنبه التواء، ومن لا ترس معه في الحرب، ومن ينهزم في الحرب، ومن لا بيضة على رأسه.
And al-akshaf: is one who has kashaf, harakah, meaning: an inversion of the forelock, as if it were a circle, and it is small hairs growing upwards, and that place is kashafah, harakah. And of horses: he who has a twist in his tailbone, and he who has no shield with him in war, and he who flees in war, and he who has no helmet on his head.
وكشفته الكواشف: فضحته.
And the revealers exposed him: they disgraced him.
وكفرح: انهزم.
And kafaraḥa: he fled.
وأكشف: ضحك فانقلبت شفته حتى تبدو درادره، و الناقة: تابعت بين النتاجين، و القوم: كشفت إبلهم، و الناقة: جعلها كشوفا.
And akshafa: he laughed and his lip turned up until his gums showed. And the she-camel: she followed up between two births. And the people: their camels were revealed. And the she-camel: he made her kashūf.
والجبهة الكشفاء: التي ms1156 أدبرت ناصيتها.
And the al-kashfā' forehead: is that whose forelock has turned back.
وكشفته عن كذا تكشيفا: أكرهته على إظهاره.
And I compelled him to reveal such-and-such (takshīfan): I forced him to show it.
وتكشف: ظهر، كانكشف، و البرق: ملأ السماء.
And takashshafa: it appeared, like inkashafa. And the lightning: filled the sky.
واكتشفت لزوجها: بالغت في التكشف له عند الجماع، و الكبش: نزا.
And she was overly revealing to her husband: she exaggerated in revealing herself to him during intercourse. And the ram: mounted.
واستكشف عنه: سأل أن يكشف له.
And he sought to uncover it: he asked that it be revealed to him.
وكاشفه بالعداوة: باداه بها.
And he showed him enmity: he initiated it with him.
و"لو تكاشفتم ما تدافنتم"، أي: لو انكشف عيب بعضكم لبعض.
And 'If you revealed yourselves to each other, you would not bury each other', meaning: if the flaw of one of you was revealed to another.
