فقال: وما قنفاء؟ تريدين معزى؟
He said: And what is Qunfa'? Do you mean a goat?
والقنيف، كأمير: جماعات الناس، والرجل القليل الأكل، والأزعر القليل شعر الرأس، والسحاب، أو الكثير الماء، و من الليل: هوي منه.
And al-Qunif, like amir: crowds of people, and the man of little eating, and the sparse-haired man, and clouds, or abundant with water, and from the night: a portion of it.
وقنف القاع، كفرح: تشقق طينه.
And the bottom of the valley, ka-farah: its mud cracked.
