And al-ṣirfah: a lunar mansion, a single bright star following al-Zubrah, named because the cold departs upon its rising, and a bead for enchantment, and the tooth of time that weakens, and the bow in which is a black mark whose arrows do not hit if shot, and to milk the she-camel in the morning and leave it until the like of yesterday.
وصرفه يصرفه: رده، و الكلبة صروفا وصرافا، بالكسر: اشتهت الفحل، وهي صارف، و الشراب: لم يمزجها، وهو مصروف، و البكرة صريفا: صوتت عند الاستقاء، و الخمر: شربها وهي مصروفة، و الصبيان: قلبهم من المكتب.

And al-ṣarīf: pure silver, and the creak of the door and the tooth of the camel, and from it: a ṣarūf she-camel, and: milk at the hour of milking, and ʿan near al-Nabāj, a king of Banu Asad bin ʿAmr bin Tamim, and what has dried of the trees, its Persian is: khudhkhudh.

And al-ṣarīfah, like safīnah: the dry palm frond, and the thin plate, pl.: ṣarf, ṣarrāf, and ṣarīf.
وصريفون: ة كبيرة غناء شجراء قرب عكبراء، وة بواسط منها: الخمر الصريفية، أو قيل لها: صريفية، لأنها أخذت من الدن ساعتئذ، كاللبن الصريف.
And ṣarīfūn: a large, fertile area with trees near ʿUkbara, and an area in Wasit from it: al-khumr al-ṣarīfiyyah, or it was called: ṣarīfiyyah, because it was taken from the vat at that time, like fresh milk.

And al-ṣarfān, with harakah: death, and copper, and lead, and dense dates hard to chew, which are counted by heads of households, laborers, and slaves for their reward, or it is al-Ṣayḥānī.

And his hair became aṣraf: stronger in it, or it is al-iqwāʾ with fatḥah, and al-Khalīl does not permit it, and it has come in the poetry of the Arabs, and from it: You made Jābān greedy until he turned away... And he almost perished had he not circled. So say to Jābān, leave us to his laziness... Sleeping at midday after sleeping at night is extravagance.
وتصريف الآيات: تبيينها، و في الدراهم والبياعات: إنفاقها، و في الكلام: اشتقاق بعضه من بعض، و في الرياح: تحويلها من وجه إلى وجه، و في الخمر: شربها صرفا.
And taṣrīf al-āyāt: their explanation, and in dirhams and sales: their spending, and in speech: derivation of some from some, and in winds: their turning from one direction to another, and in wine: drinking it pure.
وصرفته في الأمر تصريفا فتصرف: قلبته فتقلب.
And I diverted him in the matter with taṣrīf, so he diverted himself: I turned him, so he turned.
واصطرف: تصرف في طلب الكسب.
And he sought livelihood: he exerted himself in seeking a living.
واستصرفت الله المكاره: سألته صرفها عني.
And I sought from God the removal of hardships: I asked Him to turn them away from me.
وانصرف: انكف، والاسم منصرف وغير منصرف.
And he departed: he turned back, and the noun is munṣaraf and ghayr munṣaraf.
والمنصرف: ع بين الحرمين.
And al-Munṣaraf: a place between the two sanctuaries.
