وحفه بالشيء، كمده: أحاط به، وفي المثل: "من حفنا أو رفنا فليقتصد"
And He surrounded him with the thing, like extending it: He encompassed him, and in the proverb: "Whoever we surround or we lift, let him be moderate".
أي: من طاف بنا، واعتنى بأمرنا، وخدمنا، ومدحنا، فلا يغلون، ومنه قولهم: ماله حاف ولا راف، وذهب من كان يحفه ويرفه
Meaning: whoever circles us, and takes care of our affairs, and serves us, and praises us, then let them not be excessive, and from this is their saying: his wealth is neither surrounding nor lifting, and gone is he who used to surround him and lift him.
وكشداد: اللحم اللين أسفل اللهاة
And like Shidad: the soft flesh below the uvula.
وككناسة: بقية التبن والقت
And like Kinnasah: the remainder of straw and fodder.
وحفتهم الحاجة أي: هم محاويج، وقوم محفوفون
And need surrounded them, meaning: they are needy, and people surrounded by need.
