And As-Sam'a': the small-eared, the small, delicate ear close to the head, the nape of the neck, the dense, fine plant, or the young grass when it grows before splitting, or any gathered bud that has not yet opened; pl. sam'.
ويقال للكلاب: صمع الكعوب، أي صغارها.
