And asla' al-faras: what attaches of flesh to its thighs when it fattens, and al-sila', with kasrah: the merchandise, and what is traded, pl. ka'inab, and like a gland in the body, and it is vocalized with fatha and harakah, and like a chickpea, or an abscess on the neck, or a gland in it, or an increase in the body, like a gland that moves when moved, and it can be from a chickpea to a watermelon, and he is maslu', and the leech (pl. ka'inab), and with fatha: the wound (whatever it may be, and it is vocalized with harakah, or that which splits the skin, pl. sil'at and sula').

وأسلع: صار ذا شجة.

And asla': He became wounded.

والتسليع، في الجاهلية: كانوا إذا أسنتوا علقوا السلع مع العشر بثيران الوحش وحدروها من الجبال، وأشعلوا في ذلك السلع والعشر النار، يستمطرون بذلك، وقول الجوهري: علقوه بذنابى البقر، غلط، والصواب: بأذناب (وفي البيت الذي استشهد به تسعة أغلاط) .

And al-tasli', in the Jahiliyyah: When they grew old, they would hang the sila' with the 'ashar on wild bulls and bring them down from the mountains, and set fire to that sila' and 'ashar, seeking rain thereby, and Jawhari's statement: 'They hung it on the tails of cows' is wrong, and the correct is: on the tails (and in the verse he cited are nine errors).
