The zam'ah: an extra growth behind the hoof, or like sheep's claws on the pastern; each leg has two zam'ahs, as if created from pieces of horns, or the hairs hanging down at the rear of the leg of a sheep, gazelle, and rabbit; plural: zam', plural of plural: zimā'.
وَالتَّلْعَةُ، أَوْ هُوَ دُونَ الشُّعْبَةِ، وَالشُّعْبَةُ دُونَ التَّلْعَةِ، أَوْ تَلْعَةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ لَيْسَ لَهَا سَيْلٌ قَرِيبٌ، أَوْ القَرَارَةُ مِنَ الأَرْضِ، ج: أَزْمَاعٌ.
And the tal'ah, or it is less than the shu'bah, and the shu'bah is less than the tal'ah, or a small tal'ah that has no nearby stream, or a depression in the ground; plural: azmā'.
وَالزَّمْعُ، مُحَرَّكَةً: مَسَائِلُ صَغِيرَةٌ ضَيِّقَةٌ، وَرُذَالُ النَّاسِ، وَالشَّعَرَاتُ خَلْفَ الثَّنَةِ، وَالسَّيْلُ الضَّعِيفُ، وَشِبْهُ الرِّعْدَةِ تَأْخُذُ الإِنْسَانَ، وَأَبْنُ تَكُونُ فِي مَخَارِجِ عَنَاقِيدِ الكَرْمِ، وَالزِّيَادَةُ فِي الأَصَابِعِ، وَهُوَ أَزْمَعُ، وَالدَّهَشُ، وَالخَوْفُ، وَقَدْ زَمَعَ كَفَرِحَ.
And az-zam' (vibrating): small, narrow watercourses, and the base people, and the hairs behind the heel, and the weak stream, and a tremor that takes a person, and outgrowths at the points where grape clusters emerge, and an increase in the fingers, and he is azma', and astonishment, and fear, and he was astonished as in 'faraha'.
وَالأَزْمَعُ: الدَّاهِيَةُ، وَالأَمْرُ المُنْكَرُ، ج: أَزَامِعُ.
And al-azma': the cunning person, and the abominable matter; plural: azāmi'.
وَكَكَتِفٍ: مَنْ إِذَا غَضِبَ سَبَقَهُ بُوْلُهُ أَوْ دَمْعُهُ.
And like 'katif': one whose urine or tears precede him when he becomes angry.
وَكَسُكَّرٍ: زَنْبُورٌ لَا إِبْرَةَ لَهُ، وَمَنْ لَا يَخَفُّ لِلْحَاجَةِ.
And like 'sukkar': a wasp that has no stinger, and one who does not fear when necessary.
وَزِمْعَةٌ مِنَ النَّبْتِ، بِالضَّمِّ: قِطْعَةٌ، (وَبِالْفَتْحِ وَيُحَرَّكُ: وَالِدُ سَوْدَةَ أُمِّ المُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَخِيهَا عَبْدَ الصَّحَابِيِّ الجَلِيلِ).
And zim'ah of vegetation, with dammah: a piece; (and with fatha and vibrating: the father of Sawda, mother of the faithful, and her brother Abdullah, the noble companion).
وَالزَّمَاعَةُ، مُشَدَّدَةً: الرَّمَاعَةُ.
And az-zamā'ah, doubled: rubble (synonymous with ar-ramā'ah).

وَكَسَحَابٍ وَكِتَابٍ وَجَبَلٍ: المَضَاءُ فِي الأَمْرِ وَالعُزُومُ عَلَيْهِ.
And like 'sahāb', 'kitāb', and 'jabal': decisiveness in a matter and resolve upon it.
وَكَصَبُورٍ: السَّرِيعُ العَجُولُ، وَالاسْمُ: كَسَحَابٍ، وَالأَرْنَبُ تُقَارِبُ عَدُوَّهَا كَأَنَّهَا تَعْدُو عَلَى زَمَعَاتِهَا، أَوْ لِأَنَّهَا إِذَا قَرُبَتْ مِنْ جُحْرِهَا مَشَتْ عَلَى زَمْعَتِهَا لِئَلَّا يُقْتَفَى أَثَرُهَا، أَوْ السَّرِيعَةُ النَّشِيطَةُ.
And like 'ṣabūr': the swift, hasty one; and the noun: like 'sahāb'; and the rabbit approaches its enemy as if it were running on its 'zam'āt', or because when it gets close to its burrow it walks on its 'zam'ah' so its tracks are not followed, or the swift, energetic one.
وَالزَّمَعَانُ، مُحَرَّكَةً: خِفَّتُهَا وَسُرْعَتُهَا، وَالمَشْيُ البَطِيءُ، وَفِعْلُهُ: كَمَنَعَ، ضِدٌّ.
And az-zam'ān, vibrating: its lightness and speed; and the slow walk; and its verb: like 'mana'a', opposite.
وَأَزْمَعْتُ الأَمْرَ، وَعَلَيْهِ: أَجْمَعْتُ، أَوْ ثَبَتُّ عَلَيْهِ، كَزَمَّعْتُ.
And I resolved upon the matter, and upon it: I was determined, or I remained firm upon it, like 'zammat'.
وَالنَّبْتُ: لَمْ يَسْتَوِ العُشْبُ كُلُّهُ، بَلْ قِطَعٌ مُتَفَرِّقَةٌ بَعْضُهَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ.
And the vegetation: the grass is not all grown, but rather scattered patches, some better than others.
وَالحَبْلَةُ: عَظُمَتْ زَمْعَتُهَا، وَهِيَ أَبْنَتُهَا.
And the vine: its 'zam'ah' (growth) has enlarged, and it is its offspring.
وَزَمَّعَتِ النَّاقَةُ تَزْمِيعًا: رَمَحَتْ.
And the she-camel 'zammat' (moved swiftly) with 'tazmī'an': she 'ramahat' (moved quickly).
وَالمِزْمَعَةُ: كَمُحَدَّثَةٍ: ضَرْبٌ مِنَ النِّكَاحِ، وَهُوَ أَنْ يَقُومَا عَلَى أَطْرَافِ الزَّمَعِ.
And al-mizma'ah: like 'muhaddathah': a type of intercourse, which is for them to stand on the tips of the 'zam'.
