And from it is the hadith: 'May your fear be dispelled, whoever witnesses our departure this year has witnessed [the pilgrimage]', meaning Hajj, i.e., fear has left your heart.
ويروى: روعك بالفتح، أو هي الرواية فقط، أي: زال عنك ما ترتاع له وتخاف، وذهب عنك، وانكشف، كأنه مأخوذ من خروج الفرخ من البيضة.
And it is narrated: raw'ak with fatha, or it is only the narration, meaning: what you are frightened of and fear has left you, and gone from you, and been revealed, as if it is taken from the hatching of a chick from an egg.
وفي حديث معاوية إلى زياد: ليفرخ روعك، بالضم، أي: أخرج الروع عن روعك
And in the letter of Mu'awiyah to Ziyad: 'May your fear be dispelled', with damma, meaning: may fear leave your heart.
يقال: أفرخت البيضة إذا خرج الفرخ منها، والروع: الفزع، والفزع لا يخرج من الفزع، إنما يخرج من موضع الفزع وهو الروع، بالضم
It is said: The egg has hatched when the chick comes out of it, and al-ruw': fear, and fear does not leave fear, rather it leaves from the place of fear, which is al-ruw', with damma.
ويقال: أفرخ روعك على الأمر، أي: اسكن، وأمن.
And it is said: 'Afrakh raw'ak concerning the matter', meaning: be calm, and be secure.
وناقة رواعة الفؤاد، ورواعه، بضمهما: شهمة ذكية.
And a she-camel rawā'at al-fu'ād, and rawā'uhu, with dammah for both: spirited and intelligent.
والروعاء: الفرس، والناقة الحديدة الفؤاد.
And al-raw'ā': the horse, and the strong-hearted she-camel.
والأروع: من يعجبك بحسنه وجهارة منظره أو بشجاعته، كالرائع، ج: أرواع وروع بالضم، والاسم: الروع محركة.
And al-arwa': one who impresses you with his beauty and the splendor of his appearance or his bravery, like al-rā'i', plural: arwā' and ruwā' with damma, and the noun: al-ruw' muḥarrakah.
وروع خبزه بالسمن ترويعا: رواه.
And he seasoned his bread with ghee, tarwī'an: he moistened it.
وأروع بالغنم: لعلع بها.
And he drove the sheep, arwa'a: he called out to them.
وهو زجر لها.
And it is a call to them.
وكمعظم: من يلقى في صدره صدق فراسة، أو من يلهم الصواب.
And like mu'dhim: one who is granted true insight in his chest, or one who is inspired with correctness.

And tarawwa'a: he becomes frightened.
