And istawraṭa in the matter: he became entangled so the exit from it was not easy.
وَتَوَرَّطَ فِيهِ: وَقَعَ
And tawarraṭa in it: he fell into it.
وَالْوِرَاطُ، كَكِتَابٍ، فِي الصَّدَقَةِ: الْجَمْعُ بَيْنَ مُتَفَرِّقٍ، أَوْ عَكْسُهُ
And al-wirāṭ, like kitāb, in charity: combining dispersed items, or its opposite.
أَوْ أَنْ يُخَبِّئَهَا فِي إِبِلٍ غَيْرِهِ، أَوْ فِي وَهْدَةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ لِئَلَّا يَرَاهَا الْمُصَدِّقُ
Or that he hides it among others' camels, or in a hollow of the land so the collector of charity does not see it.
أَوْ أَنْ يُفَرِّقَهَا
Or that he disperses it.
أَوْ هُوَ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَحَدُهُمْ لِلْمُصَدِّقِ: عِنْدَ فُلَانٍ صَدَقَةٌ، وَلَيْسَتْ عِنْدَهُ صَدَقَةٌ
Or it is that one of them says to the collector of charity: So-and-so has charity, when he does not have charity.
