ويقال للأرنب: المقطعة النياط، تفاؤلا، أي: نياطها يقطع، ومنهم من يكسر الطاء، أي: من سرعتها تقطع نياطها أو نياط الكلاب.

والنوط: العلاوة بين عدلين، وما علق من شيء، سمي بالمصدر، والجلة الصغيرة فيها التمر ونحوه ج: أنواط ونياط، ومنه المثل: "إن أعيا البعير، فزده نوطا"، أي: لا تخفف عنه إذا تلكأ في السير.

وهذا مني مناط الثريا، أي: في البعد.
And this is from me the point of suspension of the Pleiades, meaning: in distance.

والتنوط، كالتكرم، والتنوط، بضم التاء وكسر الواو: طائر يدلي خيوطا من شجرة، وينسج عشه كقارورة الدهن منوطا بتلك الخيوط، الواحدة: بهاء.
And the tanawwut, like takarrum, and the tanawwut (with damma on ta and kasra on wa): a bird that dangles threads from a tree, and weaves its nest like an oil flask suspended by those threads, the single one: ha'.
ونوط القربة تنويطا: أثقلها ليدهنها.
And he made the waterskin heavy with tanwit: he made it heavy to fill it.
