أو المرابطة: أن يربط كل من الفريقين خيولهم في ثغره، وكل معد لصاحبه، فسمي المقام في الثغر رباطا، ومنه قوله تعالى: {وصابروا ورابطوا}.
Or Al-Murābaṭah: that each of the two parties ties their horses at their frontier, and each is prepared for his companion, so staying at the frontier is named Ribāṭ, and from this is His saying, the Almighty: {And be patient and guard the frontier}.
أو معناه انتظار الصلاة بعد الصلاة، لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "فذلكم الرباط".
Or its meaning is waiting for prayer after prayer, according to the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: 'That is your Ribāṭ.'
والمربط، كمنبر: ما ربط به الدابة، كالمربطة.

والربيط: التمر اليابس يوضع في الجراب، ويصب عليه الماء، والبسر المودون، والراهب، والزاهد، والحكيم ظلف نفسه عن الدنيا، كالرابط في الثلاث، ولقب الغوث بن مر بن طابخة، لأن أمه كانت لا يعيش لها ولد، فنذرت لئن عاش هذا لتربطن برأسه صوفة، ولتجعلنه ربيط الكعبة.
And Al-Rabīṭ: the dried dates placed in a waterskin, and water is poured on them, and the preserved unripe dates, and the monk, and the ascetic, and the wise person who restrains himself from the world, like Al-Rābiṭ in the three, and the title of Al-Ghawth bin Mar bin Tabkha, because no child lived for his mother, so she vowed that if this one lived, she would tie a tuft of wool to his head, and make him a servant of the Kaaba.
فعاش، ففعلت، وجعلته خادما للبيت حتى بلغ، فنزعته، فلقب الربيط.
So he lived, and she did so, and made him a servant of the House until he grew up, so she removed it, and he was titled Al-Rabīṭ.
وبهاء: ما ارتبط من الدواب.
And Bahā': what is tied of the beasts.
والمربطة: نسعة لطيفة تشد فوق خشبة الرحل.
And Al-Mirbaṭah: a fine strap that is tightened over the saddle's wooden frame.
ورابط الجأش وربيطه: شجاع.
And Rābiṭ Al-Ja'sh and its Rabīṭah: brave.
وربط جأشه رباطة، بالكسر: اشتد قلبه.
And he tied his heart with Ribāṭah, with kasr: his heart became strong.
والله تعالى على قلبه: ألهمه الصبر، وقواه.
And Allah, the Almighty, upon his heart: He inspired him with patience and strengthened him.
