Al-shafar, with damma, is the root of hair growth on the eyelid, masculine, and can be opened (fatha), and the side of everything, like al-shafir in both cases, and the edge of the vulva, like al-shaafir.
والشفرة والشفيرة: امرأة تجد شهوتها في شفرها فتنزل سريعا، أو القانعة من النكاح بأيسره.

وشفر المال تشفيرا: قل وذهب، و الشمس: دنت للغروب، و الرجل على الأمر: أشفى.
And shaffara wealth: it became scarce and went away, and the sun: it approached sunset, and a man regarding a matter: he was on the verge.
والشفرة: السكين العظيم، وما عرض من الحديد وحدد ج: شفار، وجانب النصل، وحد السيف، وإزميل الإسكاف.

Ibn Hisham said: The flood uncovered a grave in Yemen, containing a woman with seven necklaces of pearls around her neck, and seven bracelets, anklets, and armlets on her hands and feet, and on each finger a ring with a precious jewel, and at her head a chest full of money, and a tablet inscribed: 'In Your name, O Allah, God of Himyar, I am Tajah, daughter of Dhu al-Shifr. I sent our provisioner to Joseph, but he was slow to return. So I sent my servant with a measure of silver to bring me a measure of flour, but she did not find it. Then I sent with a measure of gold, but she did not find it. Then I sent with a measure of the sea, but she did not find it. So I ordered it to be ground, but I did not benefit from it. I died, so whoever hears of me, let him have mercy on me. And any woman who wears jewelry from my jewelry, may she not die except my death.'
وشفرها تشفيرا: جامعها على شفر فرجها.
