And the martyr, and its 'shin' is kasra: the witness, and the trustworthy one in testimony, and He whose knowledge nothing escapes, and the one killed in the way of God, because the angels of mercy witness him, or because God Almighty and His angels are witnesses for him to Paradise, or because he is among those who will be witnesses on the Day of Resurrection against past nations, or because he falls upon the witness, i.e., the earth, or because he is alive and present with his Lord, or because he witnesses the dominion of God and His kingdom, plural: martyrs, and the noun is: testimony.
وأشهد بكذا، أي: أحلف.
And he swore by such-and-such, meaning: he took an oath.

And the prayer of the witness: is the Maghrib prayer.
والمشهود: يوم الجمعة، أو يوم القيامة، أو يوم عرفة.
And the witnessed: is Friday, or the Day of Resurrection, or the Day of Arafah.
والشهد: العسل، ويضم، والشهدة أخص، ج: شهاد، وماء لبني المصطلق من خزاعة.
And 'al-shahd': is honey, and it may be dammah, and 'al-shahdah' is more specific, plural: 'shihād', and water of Bani al-Mustaliq from Khuza'ah.
{شهد الله أنه لا إله إلا هو} ، أي: علم الله، أو قال الله، أو كتب الله
{God testified that there is no god but He}, meaning: God knew, or God said, or God wrote.
وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، أي: أعلم، وأبين.
And I testify that there is no god but Allah, meaning: I know, and I make clear.
وأشهده: أحضره، و فلان: أمذى، كشهد، و الجارية: حاضت، وأدركت، وأشهد، مجهولا: قتل في سبيل الله، كاستشهد، فهو مشهد.
And he made him present: he brought him near, and so-and-so: he reached puberty, like 'shahida', and the girl: she menstruated, and she reached maturity, and he was made to be killed (passive): killed in the cause of God, like 'istashhada', so he is 'mushhad'.
والمشهد والمشهدة والمشهدة: محضر الناس.
And 'al-mashhad' and 'al-mashhadah' and 'al-mashhadah': is the gathering place of people.
وشهود الناقة: آثار موضع منتجها من دم أو سلى.
And the signs of the camel: are the traces of its birthing place from blood or amniotic fluid.
