وَالْوَادِي فِيهِ حِجَارَةٌ وَصُخُورٌ يَبْقَى الْمَاءُ فِيهِ زَمَانًا، ج: سَدَدَةٌ، كَقِرَدَةٌ.

وَجَرَادٌ سَدٌّ: كَثِيرٌ سَدَّ الْأُفُقَ.

And their saying: 'Do not let the defect be by your side' means: Do not let your chest become tight so you remain silent in response, like one who has a defect of deafness or muteness.
وَالسَّدَّةُ، بِالضَّمِّ: بَابُ الدَّارِ، ج: سَدَدٌ.

And 'al-sadad', with two dammahs: open eyes that do not see strongly, and it is a 'saddah' eye, or one that has turned white and cannot see with it, and has not yet burst.
وَالسَّادَةُ: النَّاقَةُ الْهَرِمَةُ، وَذُؤَابَةُ الْإِنْسَانِ.
And 'al-sadah' (noun) means: the old female camel, and the tuft of a person's hair.
وَضَرَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْأَرْضَ بِالْأَسْدَادِ: سُدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الطُّرُقُ، وَعَمِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ مَذَاهِبُهُ.
And I struck the ground for him with 'al-asdad': his paths were blocked, and his ways became obscure to him.
وَاسْتَدَّتْ عُيُونُ الْخَرَزِ: انْسَدَّتْ.
And the eyelets of the beads 'istaddat': they became blocked.
