وَ ذَهَبَ دَمُهُ أدْرَاجَ الرِّيَاحِ، أيْ: هَدَراً
And his blood went into the paths of the winds, meaning: in vain.
وَ الدَّرَجَةُ، بِالضَّمِّ: شَيْءٌ يُدْرَجُ فَيَدْخُلُ فِي حَيَاءِ النَّاقَةِ وَ دُبُرِهَا

وَ الدَّرَّاجَةُ، كَجَبَّانَةٍ: الحَالُ الَّتِي يُدْرَجُ عَلَيْهَا الصَّبِيُّ إذَا مَشَى

وَ الدَّبَّابَةُ تَعْمَلُ لِحَرْبِ الحِصَارِ، تَدْخُلُ تَحْتَهَا الرِّجَالُ
And the 'dabbābah' is made for siege warfare, men enter beneath it.
وَ الدَّرَجَةُ، بِالضَّمِّ، وَ بِالتَّحْرِيكِ، وَ كَهُمَزَةٍ وَ تُشَدَّدُ جِيمُ هَذِهِ، وَ الأَدْرَجَةُ، كَأُسْكُفَّةٍ: المِرْقَاةُ
And 'ad-darajah', with damma, and with haraka, and like 'humazah' and the jim of this is doubled, and 'al-adragah', like 'uskuffah': the ladder.
وَ كَسَكْرٍ: الأُمُورُ العَظِيمَةُ الشَّاقَّةُ
And like 'sakr': the great, arduous matters.
وَ كَسْكِينٍ: شَيْءٌ كَالطُّنْبُورِ يُضْرَبُ بِهِ
And like 'sikkīn': a thing like a lute that is played.
وَ دَرَّجَنِي الطَّعَامُ وَ الأَمْرُ تَدْرِيجاً: ضِقْتُ بِهِ ذَرْعاً
And the food and the matter tired me out gradually: I became weary of it.
وَ اسْتَدْرَجَهُ: خَدَعَهُ وَ أَدْنَاهُ، كَدَرَّجَهُ، وَ أَقْلَقَهُ حَتَّى تَرَكَهُ يَدْرُجُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ
And 'istadrajahu': he deceived him and brought him near, like 'darrajahu', and agitated him until he left him crawling on the ground.
وَ النَّاقَةُ: اسْتَتْبَعَتْ وَلَدَهَا بَعْدَ مَا أَلْقَتْهُ مِنْ بَطْنِهَا
And the female camel: she followed her offspring after she had dropped it from her womb.
وَ اسْتِدْرَاجُ اللهِ تَعَالَى العَبْدَ: أنَّهُ كُلَّمَا جَدَّدَ خَطِيئَةً جَدَّدَ لَهُ نِعْمَةً، وَ أنْسَاهُ الاسْتِغْفَارَ، أو أنْ يَأْخُذَهُ قَلِيلاً قَلِيلاً، وَ لَا يُبَاغِتَهُ
And the 'istidrāj' of God Almighty to the servant: is that whenever he renews a sin, He renews a blessing for him, and makes him forget to seek forgiveness, or that He takes him little by little, and does not surprise him.
وَ أَدْرَجَ الدَّلْوَ: مُتَّحَ بِهِ فِي رِفْقٍ
And 'adraja the bucket': he moved it gently.
وَ بِالنَّاقَةِ: صَرَّ أخْلافَهَا
And with the female camel: he tied her teats.
وَ كَهُمَزَةٍ: طَائِرٌ
And like 'humazah': a bird.
وَ حَوْمَانَةُ الدَّرَّاجِ، وَ قَدْ تُفْتَحُ: ع.

وَ كَمُعَظَّمٍ: ع بَيْنَ ذَاتِ عِرْقٍ وَ عَرَفَاتٍ

وَ اسْتَدْرَجَتْهُ: جَعَلَتْهُ كَأنَّهُ يَدْرُجُ بِنَفْسِهِ
And 'istadrajathu': it made it as if it were crawling by itself.
وَ تُرَابٌ دَارِجٌ: تُغَشِّيهِ الرِّيَاحُ رُسُومَ الدِّيَارِ، وَ تُثِيرُهُ، وَ تَدْرُجُ بِهِ
