And 'i'tattaba: he returned from a matter he was in to another, and from the mountain: he climbed it and did not descend from it, and the road: he left its easy part and took its difficult part, and he intended the matter.
والتعتيب: أن تجمع الحجزة وتطويها من قدام، وأن تتخذ عتبة
And ta'tīb: to gather the waistband and fold it in front, and to make a threshold.
وفلان لا يتعتب بشيء: لا يعاب
And so-and-so is not blamed for anything: he is not criticized.
و {إن يستعتبوا فما هم من المعتبين}، أي: إن يستقيلوا ربهم (لم يقلهم)، أي: لم يردهم إلى الدنيا
And {If they seek to please, then they will not be among those who are blamed}, meaning: if they ask their Lord for respite, He will not grant them, meaning: He will not return them to this world.
وعتابة: من أسمائهن
And 'Atābah: among their names.
