And the alliance of the Mutayyibin: they were named so, when Banu Abd Manaf wanted to take what was in the hands of Banu Abd al-Dar of the custodianship, the provision of water, the standard, and the serving of drinks, and Banu Abd al-Dar refused, each group made a confirmed alliance regarding their affair that they would not abandon each other, then they mixed perfumes, and dipped their hands in them, and made a pact, then they wiped the Kaaba with their hands as confirmation, so they were named: the Mutayyibin, and Banu Abd al-Dar and their allies made another confirmed alliance, so they were named: the Ahlaf, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, was among the Mutayyibin.
