ومنه: المتنبئ، أحمد بن الحسين، خرج إلى بني كلب، وادعى أنه حسني، ثم ادعى النبوة، فشهد عليه بالشأم، وحبس دهرا، ثم استتيب وأطلق.
And from it: al-mutanabbī', Ahmad ibn al-Husayn, went out to Banu Kalb, and claimed he was a Hasani, then he claimed prophethood, so he was testified against in Sham, and imprisoned for a long time, then he was asked to repent and released.
ونبأ، كمنع، نبئا ونبوءا: ارتفع، و عليهم: طلع، و من أرض إلى أرض: خرج.
And naba'a, like man'a, nab'an and nubuwwan: he rose, and over them: he appeared, and from land to land: he departed.
وقول الأعرابي: يا نبيء الله، بالهمز، أي: الخارج من مكة إلى المدينة، أنكره عليه، فقال: " لا تنبر باسمي، فإنما أنا نبي الله"، أي: بغير همز.
And the Bedouin's saying: 'O nabī' Allah,' with hamza, meaning: the one departing from Mecca to Medina, he disapproved of it for him, so he said: 'Do not address me with my name [with hamza], for I am only the nabī Allah,' meaning: without hamza.
والنبيء: الطريق الواضح، والمكان المرتفع المحدودب، كالنابئ، ومنه: " لا تصلوا على النبيء:.
And the nabī': the clear path, and the elevated, humped place, like al-nābi', and from it: 'Do not pray upon the nabī:'.
والنبأة: الصوت الخفي، أو صوت الكلاب، نبأ، كمنع.
And al-nab'ah: the faint sound, or the sound of dogs, naba'a, like man'a.
ونبيئة، كجهينة: ابن الأسود العذري.
And Nabī'ah, like Juwaynah: Ibn al-Aswad al-'Adhri.
ونبيئة مسيلمة: تصغير النبوءة، وكان نبيئ سوء، تصغير نبيء، هذا فيمن يجمعه على نبآء، وأما من يجمعه على أنبياء فيصغره على نبي، وأخطأ الجوهري في الإطلاق.
And Maslamah's nabī'ah: a diminutive of al-nubuwwah, and he was a nabī' su' (bad prophet), a diminutive of nabī', this is for whoever pluralizes it as nubaa', but as for whoever pluralizes it as anbiyaa', he makes its diminutive nabī', and Al-Jawhari erred in the general statement.
ورمى فأنبأ، أي: لم يشرم، ولم يخدش، أو لم ينفذ.
And he shot, and it did not penetrate, meaning: it did not split, nor scratch, or it did not pierce.
ونابأهم: ترك جوارهم، وتباعد عنهم.
And he distanced himself from them: he left their neighborhood, and moved away from them.
