And the Arabs say when they want distance: 'huna, hahuna, hunaka, and hahanaka,' and when they want proximity, they say: 'huna and hahuna'.

وتقول للحبيب: هاهنا وهنا أي تقرب وادن، وفي ضده للبغيض: هاهنا وهنا أي تنح بعيدا

And you say to a beloved: 'Hahuna and huna,' meaning come closer and approach, and in its opposite for an enemy: 'Hahuna and huna,' meaning move far away.

فهاهنا اقعدي مني بعيدا، ... أراح الله منك العالمينا

So sit here far from me, ... may God relieve the world from you.

فلات هنت أي ليس ذا موضع ذلك ولا حينه، فقال هنت بالتاء لما أجرى القافية لأن الهاء تصير تاء في الوصل

الهنا الحسب الدقيق الخسيس؛ وأنشد: حاشى لفرعيك من هنا وهنا، ... حاشى لأعراقك التي تشبح

Al-Hana is the fine, base lineage; and he recited: Far be it from your two branches from 'huna and huna', ... Far be it from your roots that spread.
