وقال شمر: ودى الفرس إذا أخرج جردانه.
And Shamir said: The horse emits fluid when it ejects its testicles.
ويقال: ودى يدي إذا انتشر.
And it is said: 'Waddā' means it spreads.
وقال شمر: ودى أي سال.
And Shamir said: 'Waddā' means flowed.
ويقال: ودى الحمار فهو واد إذا أنعظ؛ ويقال: ودى بمعنى قطر منه الماء عند الإنعاظ.
And it is said: The donkey emits fluid, so it is 'wādin' when aroused; and it is said: 'Waddā' means water dripped from it upon arousal.
قال ابن بري: وفي تهذيب غريب المصنف للتبريزي ودى وديا أدلى ليبوك، بالكاف، قال: وكذلك هو في الغريب.
Ibn Barrī said: And in the Tahdhīb of Gharīb al-Muṣannaf by al-Tibrīzī, 'Waddā' means to emit fluid to urinate, with a 'kāf'. He said: And it is the same in al-Gharīb.

في حديث ما ينقض الوضوء ذكر الودي ، بسكون الدال وبكسرها وتشديد الياء، البلل اللزج الذي يخرج من الذكر بعد البول، يقال ودى ولا يقال أودى، وقيل: التشديد أصح وأفصح من السكون.
In the Hadith about what invalidates ablution, 'al-wady' is mentioned, with a sukun on the dāl, or a kasrah, and a shaddah on the yā'. It is the sticky moisture that exits from the penis after urination. It is said 'waddā' and not 'awdā', and it is said the shaddah is more correct and eloquent than the sukun.

The thing flowed. Ibn al-A'rābī recited for al-Aghlab: As if the vein of his penis, when it flowed... was the rope of an old woman braided seven times.

حذف لأن الحرف لما ضعف عن تحمل الحركة الزائدة عليه ولم يقدر أن يتحامل بنفسه دعا إلى اخترامه وحذفه، والجمع الأودية، ومثله ناد وأندية للمجالس.

يريد أنا لك في واد من النفع أي صنف من النفع كثير وأنت لي في مثله، والمعنى أنهم يقولون في الذم ويكذبون فيمدحون الرجل ويسمونه بما ليس فيه، ثم استثنى عز وجل الشعراء الذين مدحوا سيدنا رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، وردوا هجاءه وهجاء المسلمين فقال: إلا الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وذكروا الله كثيرا؛
Meaning, I am for you in a valley of benefit, i.e., a great kind of benefit, and you are for me in a similar one. The meaning is that they speak in dispraise and lie, praising a man and calling him by what is not in him. Then Allah Almighty excepted the poets who praised our master, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and responded to his insults and the insults of the Muslims, saying: Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often.
