And you say: I conveyed the news to another with conveyance, if you attributed it and raised it.

فبينا هم يتابعون لينتموا بقذف نياف مستقل صخورها

And while they were following each other to ascend to the cliff whose rocks were independent.

ونميته إلى أبيه نميا ونميا وأنميته: عزوته ونسبته.

And I attributed him to his father with attribution and attribution, and I caused him to be attributed: I ascribed him and related him.

وانتمى هو إليه: انتسب.

And he belonged to him: he was affiliated.

وفلان ينمي إلى حسب وينتمي: يرتفع إليه.

And the falcon and the hawk and others belonged and rose: they ascended from one place to another.

تنمى بها اليعسوب، حتى أقرها إلى مألف رحب المباءة عاسل

The bee ascended with it, until it settled it in a spacious, honey-producing hive.

والنامية: القضيب الذي عليه العناقيد، وقيل: هي عين الكرم الذي يتشقق عن ورقه وحبه، وقد أنمى الكرم.

And the growing one: the shoot on which are the clusters, and it is said: it is the bud of the vine which splits open revealing its leaves and grapes, and the vine has grown.

إنها لكثيرة النوامي وهي الأغصان، واحدتها نامية

It has many growing ones, which are the branches, the singular of which is a growing one.

لا تمثلوا بنامية الله أي بخلق الله لأنه ينمي، من نمى الشيء إذا زاد وارتفع.

Do not mutilate God's creations, meaning God's creatures, because He causes them to grow, from 'the thing grew' if it increased and rose.

ينمي صعدا أي يرتفع ويزيد صعودا.

الإنماء: ترمي الصيد فيغيب عنك فيموت ولا تراه وتجده ميتا

Al-inmaa': You shoot game, it disappears from you, dies, and you find it dead.

الإصماء: أن ترميه فتقتله على المكان بعينه قبل أن يغيب عنه

Al-ismāa': Is to shoot it and kill it on the spot before it disappears from you.

وإنما نمى تنمي أي غابت وارتفعت إلى حيث لا يراها الرامي فماتت

And it grew, it grows, meaning it disappeared and rose to where the shooter could not see it, so it died.

فمخطفة تنمي، وموتغة تصمي

So a swift one grows (dies after escape), and a difficult one is killed instantly.

والنامي: الناجي

And the surviving one: the one who is saved.

وقافية كأن السم فيها، وليس سليمها أبدا بنامي

And a rhyme as if poison is in it, and its safe one is never surviving.

صرفت بها لسان القوم عنكم، فخرت للسنابك والحوامي

I turned the people's tongues away from you with it, so they fell to the hooves and the runners.

لا يتنمى لها في القيظ يهبطها إلا الذين لهم، فيما أتوا، مهل

No one seeks refuge in it during the heat, except those who have, in what they brought, respite.

طلب من امرأته نمية أو نمامي ليشتري بها عنبا فلم يجدها

He asked his wife for a nimyah or nimāmi to buy grapes with, but he did not find it.

النمية: الفلس، وجمعها نمامي كذرية وذراري.

Al-nimyah: The coin, and its plural is nimāmi, like dhuriyyah and dhurārī.
