والجمع لحى ولحى، بالضم، مثل ذروة وذرى؛ قال سيبويه: والنسب إليه لحوي؛ قال ابن بري: القياس لحيي.

And the jaw: that on which the sideburn grows, and the plural is alhan, lihy, and liha; Ibn Muqbil said: she exposed the movement of her teeth, ... and they threw the young ones over the jaw.
واللحيان: حائطا الفم، وهما العظمان اللذان فيهما الأسنان من داخل الفم من كل ذي لحي؛ قال ابن سيده: يكون للإنسان والدابة، والنسب إليه لحوي، والجمع الألحي.

وتلحى الرجل: تعمم تحت حلقه؛ هذا تعبير ثعلب، قال ابن سيده: والصواب تعمم تحت لحييه ليصح الاشتقاق.
And the man wrapped his turban: he wrapped it under his throat; this is the expression of Tha'lab, Ibn Sida said: and the correct is he wrapped it under his jawbones for the derivation to be correct.
نهى عن الاقتعاط وأمر بالتلحي ؛ هو جعل بعض العمامة تحت الحنك، والاقتعاط أن لا يجعل تحت حنكه منها شيئا، والتلحي بالعمامة إدارة كور منها تحت الحنك.
He forbade 'iqat and ordered talhi; it is making part of the turban under the chin, and 'iqat is not making anything from it under his chin, and talhi with the turban is wrapping a part of it under the chin.
والتلحي تطويق العمامة تحت الحنك.
And talhi is encircling the turban under the chin.
ولحيا الغدير: جانباه تشبيها باللحيين اللذين هما جانبا الفم؛ قال الراعي: وصبحن للصقرين صوب غمامة، تضمنها لحيا غدير وخانقه
And the sides of the pond: its two sides, by analogy with the two jawbones which are the sides of the mouth; Al-Rai said: And they morninged for the two falcons a downpour of clouds, which the sides of the pond and its narrow part contained.

أن النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم، احتجم بلحيي جمل ، وفي رواية: بلحي جمل ؛ هو بفتح اللام، وهو مكان بين مكة والمدينة، وقيل: عقبة، وقيل: ماء.
