And it is said: she is the one with wide udders, and there is no plural form derived from its word.
وقيل: ناقة كهاة عظيمة السنام جليلة عند أهلها
And it is said: a kähäh camel, with a large hump, esteemed by her people.
جاءت امرأة إلى ابن عباس، رضي الله عنهما، فقالت في نفسي مسألة وأنا أكتهيك أن أشافهك بها
A woman came to Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, and said: I have a question in my mind, and I hold you in such high regard that I am too shy to ask you directly.
أي أجلك وأعظمك وأحتشمك
Meaning: I respect you greatly, I hold you in high esteem, and I am bashful before you.
قال: فاكتبيها في بطاقة أي في رقعة، ويقال في نطاقة
He said: So write it on a card, meaning on a piece of parchment, and it is also said on a strap.
والباء تبدل من النون في حروف كثيرة
And the 'bā' is substituted for the 'nūn' in many words.
قال: وهذا من قولهم للجبان أكهى، وقد كهي يكهى واكتهى، لأن المحتشم تمنعه الهيبة عن الكلام
He said: And this is from their saying for the coward 'akahā', and he has become 'kahiyayakahā' and 'iktahā', because the one who is bashful is prevented by awe from speaking.
ورجل أكهى أي جبان ضعيف، وقد كهي كهى
And a man is 'akahā' meaning cowardly and weak, and he has become 'kahī kahā'.
ولا جبإ أكهى مرب بعرسه ... يطالعها في شأنه: كيف يفعل؟
And no cowardly man, when visiting his wife... watches her concerning his affair: how does he act?
والأكهاء: النبلاء من الرجال
And 'al-akhyā': the noble men.
قال: ويقال كاهاه إذا فاخره أيهما أعظم بدنا
He said: And it is said 'kāhahu' if he boasts with him about which of them is greater in body.
وهاكاه إذا استصغر عقله
And 'hākaahu' if he belittles his intellect.
وصخرة أكهى: اسم جبل
And Sakhrat Akha: the name of a mountain.
وأكهى: هضبة؛ قال ابن هرمة
And Akha: a hill; Ibn Hirmah said.
كما أعيت على الراقين أكهى ... تعيت، لا مياه ولا فراغا
Just as Akha tired the climbers... it tires, with no water and no space.
أبو عمرو: أكهى الرجل إذا سخن أطراف أصابعه بنفسه
Abu Amr: A man 'akahā' if he warms the tips of his fingers by himself.
وإن يك إنسا ما كها الإنس يفعل «1» يريد: ما هكذا الإنس تفعل، فترك ذا وقدم الكاف
And if he is human, he does not do as humans do. He means: Humans do not do thus, so he omitted that and put the 'kāf' first.
