The kushyah of the desert lizard: the base of its tail.
And it was said: it is a yellow fat from the base of its tail until it reaches the base of its throat.
And they are two kushyahs, the beginnings of the spine from the inside, from the base of its tail to its neck.
And it was said: it is located at the position of the kidneys.
And they are two fats resembling the tongue of a dog, yellowish, with black coverings, meaning like a veil.
And it was said: it is an elongated fat in the flanks from the neck to the base of the thigh.
And in the proverb: Feed your brother from the kushyah of the desert lizard; urging him towards generosity.
Rather, it is mocking him; an Arab poet said: And if you had tasted the kushyah with the livers, ... you would not have left the lizard running in the valley.
And in the narration: Umar, may God be pleased with him, placed his hand in the kushyah of a desert lizard and said that the Prophet of God, peace be upon him, did not forbid it, but rather found it repulsive.
The kushyah is fat found in the belly of the desert lizard, and placing the hand in it is a metaphor for eating from it.
And what came in Gharib al-Harbi from Mujahid: that a man gifted a desert lizard to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and he found it repulsive, so he placed his hand in the two kushyahs of the lizard.
And the plural is al-kusha.
And the poet said: If this lizard had no tail ... nor kushyah, time would not have touched it.
But because of the goodness of its tail ... and its kushyah, the ages have crept towards it.
And it is said: kushah and kushyah have the same meaning.
And he bit the thing and tore it away with his mouth.
