قصا عنه قصوا وقصوا وقصا وقصاء وقصي: بعد.
Qasa from it qaswan, qasaw, qasa, qasaa', and qasiyy: it was distant.
وقصا المكان يقصو قصوا: بعد.
And the place became distant, it distances, with distance: it was far.
والقصي والقاصي: البعيد، والجمع أقصاء فيهما كشاهد وأشهاد ونصير وأنصار؛
And al-qasiyy and al-qasi: the distant one, and their plural is aqsaa' for both, like shahid and ashhad, and naseer and ansaar;
وكُلُّ شيءٍ تَنَحَّى عن شيءٍ فقد قَصَا يَقْصُو قُصُوًّا، فهو قاصٍ، والأرضُ قاصِيَةٌ وقَصِيَّةٌ.
And everything that moves away from something has become distant, it distances, with distance; it is distant, and the land is distant and far.
وقصوتُ عن القومِ: تباعدتُ.
And I distanced myself from the people: I became far.
المسلمون تتكافأ دماؤهم يسعى بذمتهم أدناهم ويرد عليهم أقصاهم أي أبعدهم،
The blood of the Muslims is equal; the nearest of them strives for their covenant, and their furthest, meaning the most distant, responds to them,
وذلك في الغزو إذا دخل العسكر أرض الحرب فوجه الإمام منه السرايا، فما غنمت من شيء أخذت منه ما سمى لها، ورد ما بقي على العسكر لأنهم، وإن لم يشهدوا الغنيمة، ردء للسرايا وظهر يرجعون إليهم.
And that is in warfare when the army enters the land of war, and the commander sends out detachments from it. Whatever spoils are taken, they take what is designated for them, and return what remains to the army, because they, even if they did not witness the spoils, are a support for the detachments and a backing to whom they return.
إذ أنتم بالعدوة الدنيا وهم بالعدوة القصوى ؛
When you were on the nearer side, and they were on the further side;
فليس فيه اختلاف إلا أن أهل الحجاز قالوا القصوى، فأظهروا الواو وهو نادر وأخرجوه على القياس، إذ سكن ما قبل الواو، وتميم وغيرهم يقولون القصيا؛
So there is no difference in it except that the people of Hijaz said al-qaswa, and they revealed the waw, which is rare, and they derived it according to analogy, as the preceding letter to the waw is silent, and Tamim and others say al-qasya;
والقصوى والقصيا طرف الوادي، فالقصوى على قول ثعلب من قوله تعالى بالعدوة القصوى ، بدل.
And al-qaswa and al-qasya are the edge of the valley, so al-qaswa, according to Thaalab, from His saying 'al-'adwat al-qaswa', is a substitute.
والقاصي والقاصية والقصي والقصية من الناس والمواضع: المتنحي البعيد.
And al-qasi and al-qasiyah and al-qasiyy and al-qasiyyah from people and places: the one who withdraws far away.
والقصوى والأقصى كالأكبر والكبرى.
And al-qaswa and al-aqsaa are like al-akbar and al-kubra.
أن الشيطان ذئب الإنسان يأخذ القاصية والشاذة ، القاصية: المنفردة عن القطيع البعيدة منه،
That the devil is the wolf of man, he takes the isolated and the stray. Al-qasiyah: the one separated from the flock, far from it,
يريد أن الشيطان يتسلط على الخارج من الجماعة وأهل السنة.
Meaning that the devil has power over the one who leaves the community and the people of Sunnah.
وأقصى الرجل يقصيه: باعده.
And aqsaa the man, it distances him: it made him far.
وهلم أقاصك يعني أينا أبعد من الشر.
And come, let us compete in distance, meaning which of us is further from evil.
وقاصيته فقصوته وقاصاني فقصوته.
And I competed with him in distance, so he became more distant than me, and I competed with him in distance, so he became more distant than me.
والقصا: فناء الدار، يمد ويقصر.
And al-qasa: the courtyard of the house, it is lengthened and shortened.
وحطني القصا أي تباعد عني؛
And leave me the courtyard, meaning move away from me;
فحاطونا القصا، ولقد رأونا ... قريباً، حيث يستمع السرار
So they kept us at a distance, and they had seen us... close by, where secrets are heard
وما كنا بالبعد منهم لو أرادوا أن يدنوا منا،
And we were not far from them if they had wanted to approach us,
وأما القصا بالقصر فهو مصدر قصي عن جوارنا قصا إذا بعد.
As for al-qasa with shortening, it is the masdar of qasiya from our neighborhood, qasan, if it became distant.
ويقال أيضا: قصي الشيء قصا وقصاء.
And it is also said: the thing became distant, qasan and qasaa'.
والقصا: النسب البعيد، مقصور.
And al-qasa: distant lineage, shortened.
والقصا: الناحية.
And al-qasa: the region.
والقصاة: البعد «1» والناحية، وكذلك القصا.
And al-qasah: the distance and the region, and likewise al-qasa.
يقال: قصي فلان عن جوارنا، بالكسر، يقصى قصا، وأقصيته أنا فهو مقصى، ولا تقل مقصي.
It is said: So-and-so became distant from our neighborhood, with kasr, he becomes distant, qasan, and I made him distant, so he is distanced, and do not say maqsi.
لأحوطنك القصا ولأغزونك القصا، كلاهما بالقصر، أي أدعك فلا أقربك.
I will keep you at a distance and I will wage war on you at a distance, both with shortening, meaning I will leave you and not approach you.
يقال حاطهم القصا، مقصور، يعني كان في طرتهم لا يأتيهم.
It is said 'haatahum al-qasa', shortened, meaning he was at their edge, not coming to them.
وحاطهم القصا أي حاطهم من بعيد وهو يتبصرهم ويتحرز منهم.
And 'haatahum al-qasa' means he surrounded them from afar, observing them and being cautious of them.
ويقال: ذهبت قصا فلان أي ناحيته، وكنت منه في قاصيته أي ناحيته.
And it is said: I went to the side of so-and-so, meaning his region, and I was in his qasiyah, meaning his region.
ويقال: هلم أقاصك أينا أبعد من الشر.
And it is said: Come, let us compete in distance, which of us is further from evil.
ويقال: نزلنا منزلا لا تقصيه الإبل أي لا تبلغ أقصاه.
And it is said: We descended to a place that the camels cannot reach, meaning they cannot reach its furthest point.
وتقضيت الأمر واستقصيته واستقصى فلان في المسألة وتقصى بمعنى.
And I investigated the matter thoroughly, and I sought its utmost, and so-and-so investigated thoroughly in the question, and taqassa means the same.
وحكى القناني قصيت أظفاري، بالتشديد، بمعنى قصصت فقال الكسائي أظنه أراد أخذ من قاصيتها، ولم يحمله الكسائي على محول التضعيف كما حمله أبو عبيد عن ابن قنان، وقد ذكر في حرف الصاد أنه من محول التضعيف،
And Al-Qannani narrated 'qassaytu azfaari', with tashdid, meaning I trimmed my nails, so Al-Kisaa'i said I think he meant taking from its tip, and Al-Kisaa'i did not consider it a derivation of tashdid as Abu Ubaid considered it from Ibn Qinan, and it was mentioned under the letter Saad that it is from the derivations of tashdid,
وقيل: يقال إن ولد لك ابن فقصي أذنيه أي احذفي منهما.
And it is said: If you have a son, then qassi his ears, meaning cut a little from them.
والقصا: حذف في طرف أذن الناقة والشاة، مقصور، يكتب بالألف وهو أن يقطع منه شيء قليل، وقد قصاها قصوا وقصاها.
And al-qasa: a cutting at the tip of the ear of a she-camel and a sheep, shortened, written with alif, which is to cut a little from it, and he cut its ear, qaswan and qasaaha.
يقال: قصوت البعير فهو مقصو إذا قطعت من طرف أذنه، وكذلك الشاة؛ عن أبي زيد.
It is said: I cut the camel's ear, so it is maqsu if I cut from its ear tip, and likewise the sheep; from Abu Zayd.
وناِقةٌ قصواء: مقصوة، وكذلك الشاة، ورجل مقصو وأقصى، وأنكر بعضهم أقصى.
And a qaswaa' she-camel: maqsuwah, and likewise the sheep, and a man maqsu and aqsaa, and some denied aqsaa.
وبعير أقصى ومقصى ومقصو. وناقة قصواء ومقصاة ومقصوة: مقطوعة طرف الأذن.
And an aqsaa camel, and maqsaa, and maqsu. And a qaswaa' she-camel, and maqsaah, and maqsuwah: having its ear tip cut off.
والمقصاة من الإبل التي شق من أذنها شيء ثم ترك معلقا.
And al-maqsaah from camels is one whose ear has been slit and then left hanging.
القصو قطع أذن البعير.
Al-qasw is the cutting of a camel's ear.
يقال: ناقة قصواء وبعير مقصو، هكذا يتكلمون به، قال: وكان القياس أن يقولوا بعير أقصى فلم يقولوا.
It is said: a qaswaa' she-camel and a maqsu camel, this is how they speak, he said: and the analogy would have been to say aqsaa camel, but they did not say it.
ولا يقال جمل أقصى وإنما يقال مقصو ومقصى، تركوا فيه القياس،
And a camel aqsaa is not said, rather maqsu and maqsaa are said, they abandoned analogy in it,
وكان لرسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، ناقة تسمى قصواء ولم تكن مقطوعة الأذن.
And the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, had a she-camel named Qaswaa', and it was not having its ear cut off.
وهو لقب ناقة سيدنا رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم.
And it is a nickname for the she-camel of our master, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
والقصواء التي قطع طرف أذنها.
And al-qaswaa' is the one whose ear tip was cut.
وكل ما قطع من الأذن فهو جدع، فإذا بلغ الربع فهو قصو، فإذا جاوزه فهو غضب، فإذا استؤصلت فهو صلم،
And everything cut from the ear is jad'a, and if it reaches a quarter, it is qasw, and if it exceeds it, it is ghadab, and if it is completely removed, it is salm,
وقد جاء في الحديث: أنه كان له ناقة تسمى العضباء وناقة تسمى الجدعاء ، وفي حديث آخر: صلماء ، وفي رواية أخرى: مخضرمة ؛
And it has come in the hadith: that he had a she-camel named Al-'Adhbaa' and a she-camel named Al-Jad'aa', and in another hadith: As-Salmaa', and in another narration: Mukhadramah;
فركبت ناقة رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم، القصواء ، وفي رواية جابر العضباء ، وفي رواية غيرهما الجدعاء ، فهذا يصرح أن الثلاثة صفة ناقة واحدة لأن القضية واحدة،
So I rode the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, Al-Qaswaa', and in the narration of Jabir, Al-'Adhbaa', and in the narration of others, Al-Jad'aa'; this clarifies that the three are descriptions of a single she-camel because the event is one,
والقصية من الإبل: الكريمة المودعة التي لا تجهد في حلب ولا حمل.
And Al-Qasiyyah from camels: the noble, well-kept one that is not strained in milking or carrying.
والقصايا: خيار الإبل، واحدتها قصية ولا تركب وهي متدعة؛
And Al-Qasaya: the choice camels, their singular is qasiyyah, and they are not ridden while they are resting;
وإذا حمدت إبل الرجل قيل فيها قصايا يثق بها أي فيها بقية إذا اشتد الدهر،
And if a man's camels are praised, it is said about them 'qasaya' that one trusts in them, meaning they have reserves when times are hard,
وأقصى الرجل إذا اقتنى القواصي من الإبل، وهي النهاية في الغزارة والنجابة.
And a man aqsaa if he acquires the qawasi from camels, which are the ultimate in abundance and nobility.
ومعناه أن صاحب الإبل إذا جاء المصدق أقصاها ضنا بها.
And its meaning is that the owner of the camels, when the tax collector comes, keeps them far away out of concern for them.
وأقصى إذا حفظ قصا العسكر وقصاءه، وهو ما حول العسكر.
And aqsaa if he guarded the qasa of the army and its qasaa', which is what surrounds the army.
كنت إذا رأيته في الطريق تقصيتها أي صرت في أقصاها وهو غايتها.
I was, when I saw him on the road, moving to its furthest extent, meaning I became at its furthest point, which is its limit.
والأقصى: الأبعد؛
And al-aqsaa: the furthest;
وهي قاصية، ... شيئا فقد ضمنته، وهو محقور
And it is distant, ... something, so I guaranteed it, and it is insignificant
فمعنى قوله قاصية هو أن يتبعها الفحل فيضربها فتلقح في أول كومة فجعل الكوم للإبل، وإنما هو للفرس.
So the meaning of his saying 'qasiyah' is that the stallion follows her and mounts her, so she conceives at the first hump, and the hump is attributed to camels, but it is for horses.
نبئت غسان بن واهصة الخصى ... بقصوان، في مستكلئين بطان
I was informed that Ghassan bin Wahisah Al-Khasa... at Quswan, among those who are well-fed and plump
يقال للفحل هو يحبو قصا الإبل إذا حفظها من الانتشار.
It is said of the stallion that he guards the qasa of the camels if he protects them from scattering.
ويقال: تقصاهم أي طلبهم واحدا واحدا.
And it is said: taqassahum, meaning he sought them out one by one.
والقصي، مصغر: اسم رجل، والنسبة إليه قصوي بحذف إحدى الياءين، وتقلب الأخرى ألفا ثم تقلب واوا كما قلبت في عدوي وأموي.
And Al-Qusayy, the diminutive: the name of a man, and the attribution to him is Quswiyy by dropping one of the yaa's, and the other is changed to alif, then changed to waw, as it was changed in Adawiyy and Umaviyy.
