And he pretended to have poor eyesight: he showed poor eyesight and made himself appear blind when he was not.

And he approached, approaching, when he came to a fire for hospitality and approached the fire, and approached it, and approached it, and sought it out, and sought it out with it, all meaning: he saw it at night from a distance and intended it, seeking light from it.
Whenever you come to it, approaching by the light of its fire, ... you will find the best fire, with the best fire-lighter.
Faces, if travelers had sought guidance by them, ... they would have split the darkness until you see the night clearing.
And I approached him: I intended him at night, this is the origin, then every one who intends becomes 'ashi'.

Be cautious and do not be deceived, then he asked Ibn Abbas and he said the same.
Al-'ashu is your approaching a fire hoping for guidance or good from it.
And a night-grazer, wild and stout, which you startled... with a blow of a killer, in its middle, it brandishes its sword.
And 'al-'ashwah', 'al-'ashwah', and 'al-'ashwah': undertaking a matter without clarity.

O assembly of Arabs, praise God who removed 'al-'ashwah' from you; meaning the darkness of disbelief, whenever a person undertakes a matter in ignorance, he does not see its face, so it is an 'ashwah' from the darkness of the night, and it is its initial darkness.
An 'ashwah' of the night passed, with fatha, and it is the period between its beginning and its quarter.

A man became blind to the rights of his companions, seeing poorly, severely, when he wronged them.

Perhaps many an oppressive, arrogant blind person, ... I made light in his eyes, and he saw.
So-and-so wronged me, seeing poorly, seeing poorly, ناقص, he wronged me.
When the waw in 'ashi' became ya' due to the kasra of the shin, the ya' was left as it was in 'yu'shiyan', and its قياس would have been 'yu'shwan', so they abandoned the قياس.
