وقد كتبت فيه إلى الأزهري، وكان من جوابه أنه لم يجده في كلام العرب، والصواب عنده عتاهيه، وهي الغفلة والدهش

And I wrote to Al-Azharī about it, and his response was that he did not find it in the speech of the Arabs, and the correct word according to him is 'atāhīhi, which means heedlessness and bewilderment.

وأصلها إما من العراء وهو وجه الأرض، وإما من العرا مقصور، وهو الناحية، كأنه قال أطرقت عرائي أي فنائي زائرا وضيفا أم أصابتك داهية فجئت مستغيثا
