فقال: كأنها صياصي البقر ؛
So he said: 'as if they were the horns of cows';
شبه الفتنة بقرون البقر لشدتها وصعوبة الأمر فيها.
He likened the tribulation to the horns of cows due to its intensity and the difficulty of the matter within it.
فتنة صماء إذا كانت هائلة عظيمة.
A ṣammā' tribulation if it was immense and great.
أصحاب الدجال شواربهم ك الصياصي
The companions of the Antichrist, their mustaches are like al-ṣiyāṣī
يعني قرون البقر، يريد أنهم أطالوا شواربهم وفتلوها فصارت كأنها قرون بقر.
Meaning the horns of cows, intending that they had lengthened their mustaches and twirled them so they became like cow horns.
والصياصي: القرى، وقيل: الحصون.
And al-ṣiyāṣī: villages, and it was said: fortresses.
وأنزل الذين ظاهروهم من أهل الكتاب من صياصيهم ؛
And He brought down those of the People of the Book who had supported them from their ṣiyāṣīm;
الصياصي كل ما يمتنع به، وهي الحصون، وقيل: القصور لأنه يتحصن بها.
Al-ṣiyāṣī is anything by which one defends oneself, and they are fortresses, and it was said: palaces because one fortifies oneself with them.
وصيصية الثور: قرنه لاحتصانه به من عدوه؛
And the bull's ṣayṣiyah: its horn, for its defense with it against its enemy;
وأصبحت نساء تميم يلتقطن الصياصيا ذهب إلى أن رجال تميم نساجون فنساؤهم يلتقطن لهم الصياصي ليحفزوا بها الغزل.
And the women of Tamim were picking up the ṣiyāṣī. He went to the opinion that the men of Tamim are weavers, so their women pick up the ṣiyāṣī for them to spin the yarn with.
وصيصية الديك: مخلبان في ساقيه،
And the rooster's ṣayṣiyah: two talons on its legs,
وقيل: صيصية الديك وغيره من الطير الإصبع الزائدة التي في مؤخر رجله،
And it was said: the rooster's and other birds' ṣayṣiyah is the extra toe at the back of its leg,
وقيل: صيصية الديك شوكته لأنه يتحصن بها.
And it was said: the rooster's ṣayṣiyah is its spur because it defends itself with it.
