والمصلاة: شرك ينصب للصيد.

وفي حديث أهل الشام: إن للشيطان مصالي وفخوخا ؛ والمصالي شبيهة بالشرك تنصب للطير وغيرها؛ قال ذلك أبو عبيد يعني ما يصيد به الناس من الآفات التي يستفزهم بها من زينة الدنيا وشهواتها، واحدتها مصلاة.

And in the Hadith of the people of Sham: Indeed, Satan has traps and snares; and the traps are similar to snares set for birds and others; Abu Ubaid said this means what people are caught by from the afflictions with which he entices them from the adornment of this world and its desires, the singular of which is مصلاة.

وصليت لفلان، بالتخفيف، مثال رميت: وذلك إذا عملت له في أمر تريد أن تمحل به وتوقعه في هلكة، والأصل في هذا من المصالي وهي الأشراك تنصب للطير وغيرها.

والصلاية والصلاءة: مدق الطيب؛ قال سيبويه: إنما همزت ولم يك حرف العلة فيها طرفا لأنهم جاؤوا بالواحد على قولهم في الجمع صلاء، مهموزة، كما قالوا مسنية ومرضية حين جاءت على مسني ومرضي، وأما من قال صلاية فإنه لم يجئ بالواحد على صلاء.

أبو عمرو: الصلاية كل حجر عريض يدق عليه عطر أو هبيد.

Abu Amr: The spice grinder is any broad stone on which perfume or incense is ground.

الفراء: تجمع الصلاءة صليا وصليا، والسماء سميا وسميا؛ وأنشد: أشعث مما ناطح الصليا [الصليا] يعني الوتد.

Al-Farra': The صلاءة is collected as صلي and صلي, and the sky as سمي and سمي; and he recited: Disheveled from what butts against the stake [the stake] meaning the stake.

ابن شميل: الصلاية سريحة خشنة غليظة من القف، والصلا ما عن يمين الذنب وشماله، وهما صلوان.

Ibn Shamil: The صلاية is a rough, thick ridge from the rocky ground, and the صلا is what is to the right and left of the tail, and they are two hip bones.

وأصلت الفرس إذا استرخى صلواها، وذلك إذا قرب نتاجها.

And the mare became relaxed when her hip bones loosened, and that is when her foaling is near.

وصليت الظهر: ضربت صلاه أو أصبته، نادر، وإنما حكمه صلوته كما تقول هذيل.

الليث: الصليان نبت؛ قال بعضهم: هو على تقدير فعلان، وقال بعضهم: فعليان، فمن قال فعليان قال هذه أرض مصلاة وهو نبت له سنمة عظيمة كأنها رأس القصبة إذا خرجت أذنابها تجذبها الإبل، والعرب تسميه خبزة الإبل، وقال غيره: من أمثال العرب في اليمين إذا أقدم عليها الرجل ليقتطع بها مال الرجل: جذها جذ العير الصليانة، وذلك أن لها جعثنة في الأرض، فإذا كدمها العير اقتلعها بجعثنتها.

Al-Layth: The صليان is a plant; some of them said: it is on the pattern of فعلان, and some of them said: فعليان, so whoever said فعليان said this is a land of plants, and it is a plant with a large hump like the head of a reed when its tails emerge, and the camels pull it, and the Arabs call it camel's bread, and others said: Among the proverbs of the Arabs in an oath if a man takes it to seize a man's property with it: Uproot it like a wild ass uproots the thorny plant, because it has a root in the ground, so when the wild ass bites it, it uproots it with its root.

وفي حديث كعب: إن الله بارك لدواب المجاهدين في صليان أرض الروم كما بارك لها في شعير سورية ؛ معناه أي يقوم لخيلهم مقام الشعير، وسورية هي بالشام.

And in the Hadith of Ka'b: Indeed, Allah blessed the mounts of the mujahideen in the plants of the land of Rome as He blessed them in the barley of Syria; meaning it suffices for their horses in place of barley, and Syria is in Sham.
