شذا إذا تطيب بالشذو وهو المسك، ويقال: هو رائحة المسك.

أوصيتهم بما يجب عليهم من كف الأذى وصرف الشذا ؛ هو بالقصر الشر والأذى.

I advised them concerning what is incumbent upon them of refraining from harm and averting evil; it is, with shortening, evil and harm.

وكل شيء يؤذي فهو شذا؛ وأنشد: حك الجمال جنوبهن من الشذا

And everything that harms is shadhā; and he recited: The camels rubbed their sides from the flies.

ويقال: إني لأخشى شذاة فلان أي شره.

And it is said: Indeed, I fear so-and-so's shadhāh, meaning his evil.

وقال الليث: شذاته شدته وجرأته.

And Al-Layth said: His shadhāh is his intensity and his boldness.

والشذاة: بقية القوة والشدة؛ قال الراجز: فاطم ردي لي شذا من نفسي، ... وما صريم الأمر مثل اللبس

And al-shadhāh: a remnant of strength and intensity; the poet said: O Fāṭim, give me back some strength from myself, ... and the end of the matter is not like confusion.

والشذا: كسر العود الصغار، منه. والشذا: كسر العود الذي يتطيب به.
