This is from the smell of the carcass affecting him when it took his breath.
وليست بعندلة يصطك ثدياها
Nor is she a woman with breasts that rub together.
يا بئر بينونة لا تذمينا، ... جئت بأرواح المصفرينا
O well of Baynunah, do not harm us, ... you have brought the souls of the yellowed ones.
إذا ما ذمتني ريحها حين أقبلت، ... فكدت لما لاقيت من ذاك أصعق
When its wind harmed me as it approached, ... I almost fainted from what I experienced from that.
إذا البيض سافته، ذمى في أنوفها ... صنان، وريح من رغاوة مخشم
When the eggs were exposed to it, a stench entered their noses ... and a smell from foamy, putrid matter.
وقوله: ذمى أي بقي في أنوفها، ومخشم: منتن.
And his saying: dhama means it remained in their noses, and makhsham: putrid.
وضربه ضربة فأذماه إذا أوقذه وتركه برمقه.
And he struck him a blow and incapacitated him if he stunned him and left him barely alive.
والذميان: السرعة.
And al-dhimyān: speed.
وقد ذمى يذمي إذا أسرع.
And he moved quickly when he hastened.
والذماء ضرب من المشي أو السير، يقال: ذمى يذمي ذماء، ممدود.
