استرجع وقال رب أسني لما أمضيت وأعني على ما أبقيت ؛ أسني، بضم الهمزة وسكون العين، أي عوضني.
He recited and said, 'O my Lord, compensate me for what I have completed and help me with what I have left'; asani, with a damma on the hamza and sukun on the 'ayn, means 'compensate me'.
عنده البر والتقى وأسا الشق ... وحمل لمضلع الأثقال
He has righteousness and piety and the healing of the split ... and carrying the burdens of the heavy.
والآسي: الطبيب، والجمع أساة وإساء.

وسآني الشيء: حزنني؛

مر الحمول فما سأونك نقرة، ... ولقد أراك تساء بالأظعان
The camels passed, and you did not notice a single one, ... and indeed I see you saddened by the departing camels.
والأسوة والإسوة: القدوة.
And al-uswah and al-iswah: the example.
ويقال: ائتس به أي اقتد به وكن مثله.
And it is said: Take him as an example, meaning follow him and be like him.
فالنوم أسوة في هذا الأمر أي حالهم فيه واحدة.
And sleep is an example in this matter, meaning their condition in it is one.
والتأسية: التعزية.
And al-tasiyah: consolation.
أسيته تأسية أي عزّيته.
I consoled him, consoling, meaning I comforted him.
أساه فتأسى: عزاه فتعزى.
He consoled him, and he was consoled: he comforted him, and he was comforted.
وتأسى به أي تعزى به.
And he took comfort from him, meaning he was consoled by him.
أسوت فلانا بفلان إذا جعلته أسوته؛
You made someone an example of someone else if you made him his example;
آس بين الناس في وجهك ومجلسك وعدلك أي سو بينهم واجعل كل واحد منهم إسوة خصمه.
Be equitable among people in your face, your مجلس, and your justice, meaning be equal among them and make each one of them an example for his opponent.
تآسوا، فسنوا للكرام التآسيا

وهو إسوتك أي أنت مثله وهو مثلك.
And he is your example, meaning you are like him and he is like you.
لا تأتس بمن ليس لك بأسوة.
Do not take as an example someone who is not an example for you.
وآساه بماله: أناله منه وجعله فيه أسوة، وقيل: لا يكون ذلك منه إلا من كفاف، فإن كان من فضلة فليس بمؤاساة.
And he shared his wealth with him: he gave him from it and made him an example in it, and it was said: this is only from sufficiency, and if it is from surplus, it is not muwāsāh.
ما يشارك فلان فلانا، والمؤاساة المشاركة؛
What one person shares with another, and al-muwāsāh is sharing;
فإن يك عبد الله آسى ابن أمه، ... وآب بأسلاب الكمي المغاور
If 'Abd Allah shared with his mother's son, ... and returned with the spoils of the armored warrior.
ما يؤاسيه ما يصيبه بخير من قول العرب آس فلانا بخير أي أصبه،
What he shares with him is what befalls him of good, from the saying of the Arabs: 'Ās fulānan bi-khayrin' meaning 'May good befall him'.
هو يؤاسي في ماله أي يساوي.
He is equal in his wealth, meaning he is equitable.
ورحم الله رجلا أعطى من فضل وآسى من كفاف، من هذا.
May God have mercy on a man who gave from his bounty and shared from his sufficiency, from this.
والأسوة والإسوة، بالضم والكسر: لغتان، وهو ما يأتسي به الحزين أي يتعزى به، وجمعها أسا وإسا؛
And al-uswah and al-iswah, with damma and kasra: two variants, and it is what the sad person takes as comfort, meaning he is consoled by it, and its plural is asā and isā;
ولولا الأسى [الإسى] ما عشت في الناس ساعة، ... ولكن إذا ما شئت جاوبني مثلي
And if not for the grief [grief], I would not have lived among people for an hour, ... but if you wish, my like will answer me.
والآسية: البناء المحكم.

والآسية: الدعامة والسارية، والجمع الأواسي؛

They are the pillars and columns, and it is said: they are the foundation, the singular of which is āsiya because it supports and erects the roof, from 'asawtu bayna al-qawm' if you mean 'I reconciled'.

الآسي خرثي الدار وآثارها من نحو قطعة القصعة والرماد والبعر؛
Al-āsi: the remnants of the dwelling and its traces, such as a piece of pottery, ashes, and dung;
كلوا فلم نؤس لكم، مشدد، أي لم نتعمدكم بهذا الطعام.
Eat, and we did not intend for you, intensified, meaning we did not specifically offer you this food.
فلم يؤس أي لم تتعمدوا به.
And it was not intended, meaning you were not intended by it.
