And a woman is walha, walihah, walihah, and maylah: intensely grieving for her child, and the plural is al-walah. Grief and distress have overcome her and made her grieve.

Carrying my two buckets, not the carried one... full of water like the eye of the grieving one.
وكل أنثى فارقت ولدها فهي واله؛
And every female that has been separated from her young is walih.
فأقبلت والها ثكلى على عجل، ... كل دهاها، وكل عندها اجتمعا
So she approached, grieving and bereaved in haste, ... all calamities befell her, and all things gathered upon her.
ناقة ميلاه، وهي التي فقدت ولدها فهي تله إليه.
A maylah she-camel, which is one that has lost her young and yearns for it.
يقال: ولهت إليه تله أي تحن إليه.
It is said: walhat ilayhi taluhu, meaning she yearns for it.
والميلاه الناقة ترب بالفحل، فإذا فقدته ولهت إليه؛ وناقة واله.
And al-maylah is the she-camel that is serviced by the stallion, and when she loses him, she yearns for him; and a walih she-camel.
والجمل إذا فقد ألافه فحن إليها واله أيضا؛
And the male camel, if it loses its companions, it yearns for them and is also walih.
ولهت نفسي الطروب إليهم ... ولها حال دون طعم الطعام
