What is wrong with an eye whose longing makes it weep... over the ruins of a dwelling that has worn out its desolation. By God, if it were not for the fire we would endure, ... or people would call God against us, we would not have listened to a commander who obeyed (us).

And he has no authority (qāh) over me, meaning dominion.
إنا أهل قاه، فإذا كان قاه أحدنا دعا من يعينه فعملوا له فأطعمهم وسقاهم من شراب يقال له المزر
We are people of qāh (mutual assistance/obedience); when one of us has a qāh, he calls upon those who will help him, and they work for him, feeding them and giving them to drink of a beverage called al-mazr.

Al-qāh is swiftness of response and excellence of cooperation, meaning that some of them help each other in their tasks, and its origin is obedience.
إنا أهل طاعة لمن يتملك علينا، وهي عادتنا لا نرى خلافها، فإذا أمرنا بأمر أو نهانا عن أمر أطعناه
We are a people of obedience to whoever rules over us, and that is our custom; we see no deviation from it. So if we are commanded to do something or forbidden from something, we obey.
فإذا كان قاه أحدنا أي ذو قاه أحدنا دعانا إلى معونته فأطعمنا وسقانا.
And when one of us has a qāh (a person of authority or influence), meaning one of us has a qāh, he calls us to his assistance, and we feed and give him to drink.
ما لي عنده جاه ولا لي عليه قاه أي طاعة.
I have no prestige with him, nor do I have obedience (qāh) over him, meaning submission.
فإن أهل اليمن يسمون ذلك القاه.
For the people of Yemen call that al-qāh.
ونوبة كل رجل قاهه، وذلك كالطاعة له عليهم لأنه تناوب قد ألزموه أنفسهم، فهو واجب لبعضهم على بعض
And the turn of each man is his qāh, and that is like obedience to him over them because it is a mutual undertaking they have obligated themselves to, so it is incumbent upon some of them towards others.
وردوا صدور الخيل حتى تنهنهوا ... إلى ذي النهى، واستيقهوا للمحلم
And they turned the chests of the horses until they were restrained... towards the one of understanding, and they obeyed Al-Muhallim.
أي أطاعوه، إلا أنه مقلوب، قدم الياء على القاف وكانت القاف قبلها
Meaning, they obeyed him, except that it is an inversion; the ya' was placed before the qaf, whereas the qaf was before it.
ويقال: استوده واستيده إذا انقاد وأطاع
And it is said: istūda and istayda if one submits and obeys.
والقاه سرعة الإجابة في الأكل
And al-qāh is swiftness of response in eating.
وما جاء من هذا الباب لم يقل فيه أيقه ولا تبينت فيه الياء بوجه حمل على الواو.
And what comes from this category, it is not said 'ayqahu' for it, nor is the ya' evident in it in a way that would lead it to be attributed to the waw.
