الجوهري: الفهة والفهاهة العي.

يقال: سفيه فهيه، وفهه الله.
It is said: a foolish, stammering person, and may God make him speechless.
ويقال: خرجت لحاجة فأفهني عنها فلان حتى فههت أي أنسانيها.
And it is said: I went out for a need, and so-and-so made me forget it until I forgot it, meaning he made me forget it.
ابن الأعرابي: أفهني عن حاجتي حتى فههت فهها أي شغلني عنها حتى نسيتها،
Ibn al-A'rabi: He distracted me from my need until I forgot it, forgetting, meaning he occupied me with it until I forgot it,
ورجل فه وفهيه؛
And a man 'fah' and 'fahih';
وأنشد: فلم تلفني فها، ولم تلف حجتي ... ملجلجة أبغي لها من يقيمها
And he recited: You did not find me stammering, nor did you find my argument ... jumbled, seeking someone to establish it for me
ابن شميل: فه الرجل في خطبته وحجته إذا لم يبالغ فيها ولم يشفها،
Ibn Shumayl: A man faltered in his speech and his argument if he did not elaborate on it and did not clarify it,
وقد فههت في خطبتك فهاهة.
And you have faltered in your speech with stammering.
قال: وتقول أتيت فلانا فبينت له أمري كله إلا شيئا فههته أي نسيته.
He said: And you say, I came to so-and-so and explained my entire matter to him except for something I forgot, meaning I forgot it.
وفهفه إذا سقط من مرتبة عالية إلى سفل.
And 'fahfaha' when he fell from a high rank to a lower one.
وفي الحديث: ما سمعت منك فهة في الإسلام قبلها ، يعني السقطة والجهلة ونحوها.
And in the Hadith: I have not heard from you any 'fahhah' in Islam before this, meaning a slip, ignorance, and the like.
وفي حديث أبي عبيدة بن الجراح: أنه قال لعمر، رضي الله عنه، حين قال له يوم السقيفة ابسط يدك أبايعك: ما رأيت منك فهة في الإسلام قبلها، أتبايعني وفيكم الصديق ثاني اثنين ؟
And in the Hadith of Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah: he said to Umar, may God be pleased with him, when he said to him on the day of the Saqifah, 'Extend your hand, I will pledge allegiance to you': I have not seen any 'fahhah' from you in Islam before this, will you pledge allegiance to me while the Truthful is among you, the second of two?
قال أبو عبيد: الفهة مثل السقطة والجهلة ونحوها.
Abu Ubayd said: 'Al-fahah' is like a slip, ignorance, and the like.
يقال: فه يفه فهاهة وفهه فهو فه وفهيه إذا جاءت منه سقطة من العي وغيره.
It is said: 'fah' he forgets, 'fahahah', and 'fahhah', so he is 'fah' and 'fahih' if a slip comes from him due to speech impediment or otherwise.
