وأنا على يقين منه
And I am certain of it.
وإنما صارت الياء واوا في قولك موقن للضمة قبلها

وإذا صغرته رددته إلى الأصل وقلت مييقن
And when you make it diminutive, you return it to the original and say 'muyayqin'.
تحسب هواس، وأيقن أنني ... بها مفتد من واحد لا أغامره
He thinks it is a hunter, and he is certain that I... will ransom it from one, I will not risk myself.
يقول: تشمم الأسد ناقتي يظن أنني أفتدي بها منه وأستحمي نفسي فأتركها له ولا أقتحم المهالك بمقاتلته
He means: The lion sniffed my she-camel, thinking that I would ransom it from him and save myself, leaving it for him and not venturing into dangers by fighting him.
ورجل يقن ويقن: لا يسمع شيئا إلا أيقنه، كقولهم: رجل أذن.
And a man who is yaqin and yaqin: he hears nothing except that he is certain of it, like their saying: a man who is 'adhun' (attentive).
