وَمَشَنَتِ النَّاقَةُ تَمْشِينَا دَرَّتْ كَارِهَةً.
And the she-camel gave milk, producing it reluctantly.
والمَشْنُ: الخَدْشُ.

وَمَشَّنَنِي الشَّيءُ: سَحَجَنِي وَخَدَشَنِي؛

وَالمَشْنُ: جَمْعُ مَاشِنٍ، والمَشْنُ: القِشْرُ، يُرِيدُ: وَفِي الضَّرْبِ بالسِّياطِ الَّتِي تَخْدُشُ الجِلْدَ أَي تَجْعَلُ فِيهِ كَالأَخَادِيدِ.
And Al-mashn: is the plural of 'mashin', and Al-mashn: is the peel, meaning: and in the striking with whips that scratch the skin, i.e., make grooves in it.

Al-mashn is rubbing the hand on something rough,
وَالعَرَبُ تَقُولُ: كَأَنَّ وَجْهَهُ مَشْنٌ بِقَتَادَةٍ أَي خَدَشٌ بِهَا، وَذَلِكَ فِي الكَرَاهَةِ وَالعُبُوسِ وَالغَضَبِ.
And the Arabs say: as if his face was scratched by a thorny plant, meaning scratched by it, and that is in dislike, frowning, and anger.
ابنُ الأَعْرَابِيِّ: مَرَّتْ بِي غِرَارَةٌ فَمَشَنَتْنِي، وَأَصَابَتْنِي مَشْنَةٌ، وَهُوَ الشَّيءُ لَهُ سَعَةٌ وَلَا غَوْرَ لَهُ، فَمِنْهُ مَا بَضَّ مِنْهُ دَمٌ، وَمِنْهُ مَا لَمْ يَجْرَحِ الجِلْدَ.
Ibn Al-A'rabi said: a basket passed by me and scratched me, and a scratch afflicted me, and it is something that has width but no depth, some of it bled, and some of it did not wound the skin.
يُقَالُ مِنْهُ: مَشَنَهُ بالسَّيْفِ إِذَا ضَرَبَهُ فَقَشَرَ الجِلْدَ،
It is said from it: he struck him with the sword if he struck him and peeled the skin,
قَالَ أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ: سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ هَجَرَ يَقُولُ لِآخَرَ: مَشَنَ اللَّيْفَ أَيْ مَيَّشَهُ وانْفَشَهُ لِلتَّلْسِينِ، وَالتَّلْسِينُ: أَنْ يُسَوَّى اللَّيْفُ قِطْعَةً قِطْعَةً وَيُضَمَّ بَعْضُهُ إِلَى بَعْضٍ.
Abu Mansur said: I heard a man from the people of Hajar say to another: fluff the fiber, meaning separate and fluff it for weaving, and Al-Talsin is: to make the fiber even piece by piece and join some of it to some.
وَمَشَنَ المَرْأَةَ: نَكَحَهَا.
And he had sexual intercourse with the woman: he married her.
وَامْرَأَةٌ مَشَّانٌ: سَلِيطَةٌ مَشَّاتِمَةٌ؛
And a woman 'mashshan': is sharp-tongued and abusive;
وَالمَشَّانُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ: السَّلِيطَةُ المَشَّاتِمَةُ.
And Al-mashshan among women: is the sharp-tongued, abusive one.
وَتَمَاشَنَا جِلْدَ الظِّرْبَانِ إِذَا اسْتَبَّا أَقْبَحَ مَا يَكُونُ مِنَ السِّبَابِ، حَتَّى كَأَنَّهُمَا تَنَازَعَا جِلْدَ الظِّرْبَانِ وَتَجَاذَبَاهُ؛ عَنِ ابْنِ الأَعْرَابِيِّ.
And they insulted each other like the skin of a badger when they exchanged the ugliest of curses, as if they were fighting over the skin of the badger and pulling it; from Ibn Al-A'rabi.
أَبُو تُرَابٍ: إِنَّ فُلَانًا لَيَمْتَشِنُ مِنْ فُلَانٍ وَيَمْتَشِنُ أَيْ يُصِيبُ مِنْهُ.
Abu Turab said: indeed, so-and-so obtains from so-and-so and obtains, meaning he gets from him.
وَيُقَالُ: امْتَشِنْ مِنْهُ مَا مَشَنَ لَكَ أَيْ خُذْ مَا وَجَدْتَ.
And it is said: take from him whatever you can get, meaning take what you find.
وَامْتَشَنَ ثَوْبَهُ: انْتَزَعَهُ.
And he snatched his garment: he pulled it off.
وَامْتَشَنَ سَيْفَهُ: اخْتَرَطَهُ
And he drew his sword: he unsheathed it.

فَقَالَ أَبُو يُوسُفَ: أَطْيَبُ الرُّطَبِ المَشَّانُ، وَقَالَ أَبِي: أَطْيَبُ الرُّطَبِ السُّكَّرُ، فَقَالَ هَارُونُ: يُحْضَرَانِ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَا تَنَاوَلَ أَبُو يُوسُفَ السُّكَّرَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ: لَمَّا رَأَيْتُ الحَقَّ لَمْ أَصْبِرْ عَنْهُ.
So Abu Yusuf said: the best of fresh dates is Al-Mashshan, and my father said: the best of fresh dates is Al-Sukkar, so Harun said: bring them, and when they were brought, Abu Yusuf took Al-Sukkar, and I said to him: what is this? He said: when I saw the truth, I could not refrain from it.
بِعِلَّةِ الوَرْشَانِ تَأْكُلُ الرُّطَبَ المَشَّانَ،
With the ailment of Al-Warshan, she eats the fresh dates of Al-Mashshan,
وَفِي الصِّحَاحِ: تَأْكُلُ رُطَبَ المَشَّانِ، بِالإِضَافَةِ، قَالَ: وَلَا تَقُلْ تَأْكُلُ الرُّطَبَ المَشَّانَ؛
And in Al-Sihah: she eats the fresh dates of Al-Mashshan, in addition, he said: and do not say she eats the fresh dates Al-Mashshan;
وَالمَشَّانُ: اسْمُ رَجُلٍ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
And Al-Mashshan: is the name of a man, and God knows best.
