يقال منه: رجل مثن وممثون، فإذا كان لا يمسك بوله فهو أمثن.
It is said of it: a man with bladder pain and one with bladder pain; and if he does not hold his urine, he is incontinent.
ومثن الرجل، بالكسر، فهو أمثن بين المثن إذا كان لا يستمسك بوله.
And a man suffers from pain in the bladder, with kasra, so he is incontinent among those with bladder pain if he cannot retain his urine.
ابن سيده: المثن وجع المثانة، وهو أيضا أن لا يستمسك البول فيها.
Ibn Sidah said: Al-Mathn is pain of the bladder, and it is also the inability to retain urine in it.
أبو زيد: الأمثن الذي لا يستمسك بوله في مثانته، والمرأة مثناء، ممدود.
Abu Zayd said: Al-Amthan is he who cannot retain his urine in his bladder, and the woman is Al-Mathnaa (extended).
ابن الأعرابي: يقال لمهبل المرأة المحمل والمستودع وهو المثانة أيضا
Ibn Al-A'rabi said: The vagina of a woman is called Al-Mahmal and Al-Mustawda', and it is also the bladder.
قال الأزهري: هذا لفظه، قال: والمثانة عند عوام الناس موضع البول، وهي عنده موضع الولد من الأنثى.
Al-Azhari said: This is his wording. He said: And the bladder among common people is the place of urine, and to him, it is the place of the child in the female.
وقالت امرأة من العرب لزوجها: إنك لمثن خبيث، قيل لها: وما المثن؟ قالت: الذي يجامع عند السحر عند اجتماع البول في مثانته
And a woman from the Arabs said to her husband: 'You are indeed a wicked one who holds urine.' She was asked: 'And what is Al-Mathn?' She said: 'He who has intercourse at dawn when urine has gathered in his bladder.'
أبو بكر الأنباري: المثناء، بالمد، المرأة إذا اشتكت مثانتها.
Abu Bakr Al-Anbari said: Al-Mathnaa', with elongation, is a woman when she complains of her bladder.
ومثنه يمثنه، بالضم «1». مثنا ومثونا: أصاب مثانته.
And he afflicted him with it, with damma. Mathnan and Mathunan: he affected his bladder.
الأزهري: ومثنه بالأمر مثنا غته به غتا؛ قال شمر: لم أسمع مثنته بهذا المعنى لغير الأموي؛ قال الأزهري: أظنه متنته متنا، بالتاء لا بالثاء، مأخوذ من المتين وقد تقدم في ترجمة متن، والله أعلم.
Al-Azhari said: And he afflicted him with the matter, Mathnan, he annoyed him greatly with it. Shamir said: I have not heard 'mathantuhu' in this meaning except from Al-Umawi. Al-Azhari said: I think it is 'matantuhu' (with taa), Mathnan, taken from Al-Mateen, and it has been previously mentioned in the entry for 'matn', and God knows best.
