And the plural is 'as-han' and 'sihaan'; from Ibn Al-A'rabi; and he recited: From the cups and from the cups.
ابن الأعرابي: أول الأقداح الغمر، وهو الذي لا يروي الواحد، ثم القعب يروي الرجل، ثم العس يروي الرفد، ثم الصحن، ثم التبن.
Ibn Al-A'rabi: The first of the vessels is the ghamr, which does not quench one person's thirst; then the qa'b quenches a man's thirst; then the 'ass' quenches a company; then the sahn; then the tibn.

And I sahn-ed him sahn-aat, meaning I beat him.
الأصمعي: الصحن الرمح، يقال: صحنه برجله إذا رمحه بها؛ وأنشد قوله يصف عيرا وأتانه: قوداء لا تضغن أو ضغون، ... ملحة لنحره صحون
Al-Asma'i: The sahn is the spear; it is said: he sahn-ed it with his leg if he speared it with it; and he recited his saying describing a wild ass and its mate: Long-necked, not resentful or resentful, ... its chest is sahn-ing (speared).
يقول: كلما دنا الحمار منها صحنته أي رمحته.
He means: whenever the donkey approached it, he sahn-ed it, meaning he speared it.
وناقة صحون أي رموح.

وسأل رجل الحسن عن الصحناة فقال: وهل يأكل المسلمون الصحناة؟ قال: ولم يعرفها الحسن لأنها فارسية، ولو سأله عن الصير لأجابه.
A man asked Al-Hasan about the sahnāh, and he said: Do Muslims eat sahnāh? He said: And Al-Hasan did not know it because it is Persian; if he had asked him about the sair, he would have answered him.
