And ar-ranā': joyfulness with a change of doubling, narrated by Tha'lab with emphasis, and Abu Ubaid with lightness, and it is more consistent with their saying ranawtu, meaning I was joyful and extended my voice, and whoever says ranawtu considers ar-ranā' to be defective.
ويوم أرونان: شديد في كل شيء، أفوعال من الرنين فيما ذهب إليه ابن الأعرابي، وهو عند سيبويه أفعلان من قولك: كشف الله عنك رونة هذا الأمر أي غمته وشدته، وهو مذكور في موضعه.
And Yawm Arūnān: severe in everything, an 'afwāl pattern from ar-ranīn according to Ibn al-A'rābī, and according to Sibawayh it is an 'af'alān pattern from your saying: May God remove from you the intensity of this matter, meaning its distress and severity, and it is mentioned in its place.
