وقال الأخفش: نونه أصلية مثل قراص وحماض، وفعال أكثر من فعلان؛

And Al-Akhfash said: its nun is original, like 'qaras' and 'hamad', and the pattern 'fiaal' is more common than 'fa'laan'.

وإنما قال إن فعالا يكثر في النبات نحو المران والحماض والعلام، فلذلك جعل رمانا فعالا.

He only said that the pattern 'fiaal' is common in plants, like 'maran', 'hamad', and 'alam', and therefore he considered 'rumman' to be of the 'fiaal' pattern.

رمانة الفرس: الذي فيه علفه؛

وفي حديث أم زرع: يلعبان من تحت خصرها برمانتين أي أنها ذات ردف كبير، فإذا نامت على ظهرها نبا الكفل بها حتى يصير تحتها متسع يجري فيه الرمان، وذلك أن ولديها كان معهما رمانتان، فكان أحدهما يرمي برمانته إلى أخيه، ويرمي أخوه الأخرى إليه من تحت خصرها.

And in the Hadith of Umm Zar': 'They play from beneath her waist with two pomegranates' means she has large buttocks, so when she sleeps on her back, her hips protrude, creating a space beneath her where the pomegranates can roll. This is because her two children had two pomegranates with them, so one would throw his pomegranate to his brother, and his brother would throw the other to him from beneath her waist.

فيهما فاكهة ونخل ورمان

دل بالواو على أن الرمان والنخل غير الفاكهة لأن الواو تعطف جملة على جملة، قال أبو منصور: هذا جهل بكلام العرب والواو دخلت للاختصاص، وإن عطف بها، والعرب تذكر الشيء جملة ثم تخص من الجملة شيئا تفصيلا له وتنبيها على ما فيه من الفضيلة؛

He inferred from the 'wa' (and) that pomegranates and dates are not fruits, because 'wa' conjoins a clause to a clause. Abu Mansur said: This is ignorance of the Arabic language; the 'wa' entered for specification, even if it conjoins. The Arabs mention a thing generally, then they specify something from that general mention for detail and to draw attention to its virtue.

حافظوا على الصلوات والصلاة الوسطى؛ فقد أمرهم بالصلاة جملة ثم أعاد الوسطى تخصيصا لها بالتشديد والتأكيد، وكذلك أعاد النخل والرمان ترغيبا لأهل الجنة فيهما،

Guard diligently over the prayers and the middle prayer. For He commanded them to pray generally, then He reiterated the middle prayer for its specific emphasis and confirmation. Likewise, He reiterated dates and pomegranates to encourage the people of Paradise towards them.

من كان عدوا لله وملائكته ورسله وجبريل وميكال؛ فقد علم أن جبريل وميكال دخلا في الجملة وأعيد ذكرهما دلالة على فضلهما وقربهما من خالقهما.

Whoever is an enemy to Allah, His angels, His messengers, Gabriel, and Michael. For it is known that Gabriel and Michael are included in the general mention, and they were reiterated to indicate their virtue and closeness to their Creator.

ويقال لمنبت الرمان مرمنة إذا كثر فيه أصوله.

فلو شهدت أم القديد طعاننا، ... بمرعش خيل الأرمني، أرنت «1».

So if Umm Al-Qudayd had witnessed our javelins... among the horses of the Armani, she would have heard the neighing.
