Ibn al-Athir said: 'Al-Hanan' is a sand dune between Mecca and Medina, which is mentioned in the journey of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to Badr.
نعاني حنانة طوبالة، ... تسف يبيسا من العشرق
Hananah the tall shepherd mourned me, ... grazing dry desert shrubs.
والحنان: اسم فحل من خيول العرب معروف
And 'Al-Hanan': the name of a stallion from the well-known horses of the Arabs.
