Were it not that I would leave the last of the people as one entity, I would not conquer a village except that I would divide it.

أي أتركهم شيئا واحدا

Meaning, I leave them as one thing.

لأنه إذا قسم البلاد المفتوحة على الغانمين بقي من لم يحضر الغنيمة، ومن يجيء بعد من المسلمين بغير شيء منها

Because if he divided the conquered lands among the spoils recipients, those who did not attend the spoils and those who come later among the Muslims would remain without anything from it.

فذلك تركها لتكون بينهم جميعهم

Therefore, he left it to be among them all.

ولا أحسبه عربيا

And I do not think it is Arabic.

ليس في كلام العرب ببان

There is no 'baban' in the speech of the Arabs.

والصحيح عندنا بيانا واحدا
