And in the narration of Ali, he urged the fighting of the Khawarij and said: If you see them, cause them to die, meaning kill them.

وفي حديث غزوة الفتح: فما أشرف لهم يومئذ أحد إلا أناموه أي قتلوه.

And in the narration of the Conquest of Mecca: No one appeared before them that day except that they caused him to die, meaning they killed him.

قال حميد بن ثور: فقامت بأثناء من الليل ساعة ... سراها الدواهي، واستنام الخرائد أي نام الخرائد.

Humayd bin Thawr said: And she stood for an hour in the middle of the night ... the calamities guided her, and the modest women fell asleep, meaning the modest women slept.

Abu Hanifa said: Al-Naim is a tree with soft thorns and small leaves, and it has many scattered fruits like sour chickpeas; when it ripens, it turns black and sweet, and it is eaten, and its habitat is the mountains; Sa'idah bin Ju'ayyah Al-Hudhali said, describing a mountain goat on a peak: Then it reaches for it when the day has passed for it, ... after waiting, from Al-Naim and Al-Katam.

ويقال: فلان نيمي إذا كنت تأنس به وتسكن إليه؛

And it is said: So-and-so is my 'Naimi' if you feel at ease with him and find solace in him;

فقلت: تعلم أنني غير نائم ... إلى مستقل بالخيانة أنيبا

So I said: Know that I am not sleeping ... towards one who is firm in treachery, a sharp-toothed one.

والنيم، بالفارسية: نصف الشيء، ومنه قولهم للقبة الصغيرة: نيم خائجة أي نصف بيضة، والبيضة عندهم خاياه، فأعربت فقيل خائجة.
