By God, I will not be like the hyena that hears the striking and comes out to be hunted, and that is because the hunter comes to its den and strikes it with a stone or his hand, so it comes out thinking it is something to hunt and catch, and he catches it, and it is one of the most foolish of animals; he meant that I will not be deceived as the hyena is deceived by the striking, and the striking is called ladman.

بل اللدم اللدم والهدم الهدم ، قال: فمن رواه بل الدم الدم والهدم الهدم فإن ابن الأعرابي قال: العرب تقول: دمي دمك وهدمي هدمك في النصرة أي إن ظلمت فقد ظلمت؛ قال: وأنشد العقيلي: دما طيبا يا حبذا أنت من دم

هو أن يهدر دم القتيل، المعنى إن طلب دمكم فقد طلب دمي، فدمي ودمكم شيء واحد،

اللدم الحرم جمع لادم والهدم القبر، فالمعنى حرمكم حرمي وأقبر حيث تقبرون؛ وهذا كقوله: المحيا محياكم والممات مماتكم لا أفارقكم.
