إذا كان على طرف الأنف فهو اللفام، وإذا كان على الفم فهو اللثام.
If it is on the tip of the nose, it is al-lifam, and if it is on the mouth, it is al-litham.
اللثام ما كان على الفم من النقاب، واللفام ما كان على الأرنبة.
Al-litham is what is on the mouth of the veil, and al-lifam is what is on the tip of the nose.
أنه كره التلثم من الغبار في الغزو ، وهو شد الفم باللثام،
That he disliked covering the face from dust in warfare, which is tightening the mouth with a veil,
وإنما كرهه رغبة في زيادة الثواب بما يناله من الغبار في سبيل الله.
He disliked it only out of a desire for increased reward from what he would receive of dust in the cause of God.
والملثم: الأنف وما حوله
And al-mulaththam: the nose and what is around it
وإنها لحسنة اللثمة؛
And she has a beautiful covering (of the face);
آلت إلى النصف من كلفاء أتأقها ... علج، ولثمها بالجفن والغار
She reached the midpoint of her kalfā' ... a slave, and he kissed it with the eyelid and the cave
إنما أراد أنه صير الجفن والغار لهذه الخابية كاللثام.
He only meant that he made the eyelid and the cave for this khaba'a like a veil.
ولثمها ولثمها يلثمها ويلثمها لثما: قبلها.
And he kissed her, and he kissed her, he kisses her and he kisses her, a kissing: he kissed her.
واللثم: القبلة.
And al-lathm: the kiss.
ويقال: لثمت المرأة تلثم لثما والتثمت وتلثمت إذا شدت اللثام، وهي حسنة اللثمة.
And it is said: The woman kissed, she kisses, a kissing, and she covered herself and she covered herself if she tightened the veil, and she is beautiful in her covering.
وخف ملثوم وملثم: جرحته الحجارة؛
And a hoof is malthoom and mulaththam: the stones injured it;
يرمي الصوى بمجمرات سمر ... ملثمات، كمرادي الصخر

لثم البعير الحجارة بخفه يلثمها إذا كسرها.

وخف ملثم: يصك الحجارة.

ويقال أيضا: لثمت الحجارة خف البعير إذا أصابته وأدمته.
And it is also said: The stones struck the camel's hoof if they hit it and made it bleed.
